False Positive is a dark and twisted story that is even more scary, because it feels like something that could really happen.

    false positive

Captivating, thrilling, and suspenseful, False Positive isn’t afraid to tackle the truth at how much Science and men have control of women when it comes to certain situations — especially pregnancy. This somehow even more twisted take on Rosemary’s Baby offers up a bit of a disturbing, yet warranted, ending. Even though some parts of the plot are predictable, others come as a complete shock. The incredible cast help really drive this one into the cannot miss category.

The story follows a couple, Lucy (Ilana Glazer) and Adrian (Justin Theroux), who have tried for what feels like forever to get pregnant with no success. Luckily Adrian previously worked with a world-renowned reproductive specialist Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan) and they end up with a successful pregnancy.

From here on out things get weird. There are twists and turns that will have the audience on their toes as they try to figure out exactly who is the crazy one in this film. There are also some heavy topics about miscarriage and difficult decisions that need to be made. It becomes clear that Lucy and her unborn child are very much under the control of science and men, something that is mostly true in the real world.

    What Works With False Positive

This film is beyond scary because pregnancy is a truly scary thing. Forming a horror movie around that is something that has been done before, of course, but this movie really excels at it. The story feels like something that could happen in real life, and probably does happen in real life, which makes it that much more exhilarating. Hearts will be pounding and blood pressure will be raised during this watch, especially in the last thirty minutes or so when it all comes together.

Viewers who have seen Rosemary’s Baby will certain get similar vibes, however False Positive takes it up about ten notches – really pushing that horror envelope. The fantastic cast delivers equally fantastic performances that help make this movie what it is.

What Doesn’t Work With False Positive

The biggest issue with this movie is that it is somewhat predictable. However that does not ruin the story in the slightest. The journey is still fun and even if the audience is pretty sure they know what is going on, they will second guess it the whole way through.

    Overall Thoughts

False Positive is thrilling, bloody, and yet captivating. The realness to this story, and the fact that any woman could go through the same thing Lucy did, is what makes it so scary. This film will hit close to home with a lot of people.

Captivating, thrilling, and suspenseful, this somehow even more twisted take on Rosemary’s Baby offers up a disturbing, yet fascinating journey.
