Echo Boomers is a fun crime drama film, if you try not to take it too seriously. While it does have its flaws, it is certainly more good than bad.

Echo Boomers tells the story of a recent college graduate, Lance, who is having a hard time finding a job after graduating. But the film takes a step further when he joins a group of other college graduates who steal from the rich, and give to themselves. They feel that their generation has gotten the shaft, and they are willing to take it out on any “boomer” with a decent paycheck.
Unfortunately for the movie, that part doesn’t really ever come together, and just muddles up the story a bit. Fortunately for the movie, it doesn’t ruin the whole thing. It does distract from the storyline in the first half, but the second half more than makes up for it. It feels like the movie as a whole finds its groove, and it the ending really pulls it all together. No spoilers here, but the last line literally gave me chills.
When things start to go wrong with the man that helps this group of young criminals, they need to come up with another way to find houses to rob. What they come up with is pretty brilliant, and that is where the movie really picked up for me.
I don’t want to ruin the fun, but I promise if you hang in until the third act, the wait more than pays off. While the generational issue almost seems to be dropped at this point, the crime and heist portion of the film really ramp up.

Overall Thoughts
Echo Boomers is a crime drama movie that almost seems to border on political. Well, I am not sure that political is the right word, but certainly generational. The first half seems to focus a lot on the fact that the angry millennials are doing this to get back at the generation that feel screwed them over. However, that part of the story never really feels complete.
What does feel complete though is a group of criminals who break into homes in order to steal valuables, and sell them to a fence. When things start to go off the rails with their contact, they decide to switch things up a little bit.
Patrick Schwartzenegger and Hayley Law are the standout actors for me in this movie. I adore Hayley from Spontaneous and Altered Carbon, so I was excited to see her in this movie. Both of them have fantastic, and very different, character arcs. I don’t want to say too much, because I do not want to give anything away, but you will know what I mean when you see it.
Overall Echo Boomers is not a perfect movie, not by any means. But if you are looking for a fun crime drama heist movie — then you will have a lot of fun with this one! I think the key is to not take it too seriously, and you will like it.
