Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party Of A Showgirl is in theaters now, and even if you are a casual Swiftie, I highly recommend going to see it. Have always said that the majority of Taylor Swift’s songs need multiple listens in order to really digest the lyrics, and her twelfth album, The Life Of A Showgirl, is no different.
But what really will make you appreciate every song is knowing the inspiration behind it. Taylor is giving her fans something truly special with Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party Of A Showgirl. Not only does it give us a chance to see the music video for The Fate Of Ophelia before anyone else (and on a huge screen, no less), Taylor herself sits down and explains the meaning and inspiration behind every track on the album.
And yes, of course, she offers up an adorable side-eyed smirk as she tries to convince everyone that Wood is about superstitions and not Travis Kelce’s big d***.
This is a chance for us to get to know her just a little bit more. She details what she was thinking about when writing all twelve tracks on The Life Of A Showgirl. Viewers are able to not only see the first music video of the album, but also the official lyric videos for them (which are all amazing, of course).
Weaved in between the lyric videos is the making of The Fate Of Ophelia music video. She reunited all her dancers from The Eras Tour, as well as those who worked behind the scenes, to deliver something truly special. Thankfully, the film allows us to see the video twice. Once at the start, and then again to close it out after we saw all of the behind-the-scenes footage.
Say what you will, but Taylor Swift can do it all. Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party Of A Showgirl lets us see her in the director’s chair as well. She takes her job seriously, and she is really, really good at it. I love getting to see her in her element. I kept recalling how she is supposed to be directing a feature film at some point and honestly, I cannot wait for that, because she knows what she is doing.
The Life Of A Showgirl is a short album, but I enjoyed every song on first listen. For those that were not my favorites, they are already growing on me. Especially after learning what was going through Taylor’s mind as she wrote them, seeing the love that she has for them, and getting to see her being silly and fun as she discusses them. And my favorites? Well, I am officially obsessed with them now.
Taylor Swift’s aesthetic for this album is gorgeous. I love seeing her embrace her beauty and her body. This continues through all of the lyric videos. As for the music video for The Fate Of Ophelia, get ready to have your mind blown.
