Ahsoka episode 4 is easily the best episode of the new Star Wars series yet. Jam packed with action, lots of emotion, and a long awaited return.

Easily the best episode of the entire series so far, Ahsoka episode 4 delivers a ton of action, including some well choreographed and incredible lightsaber battles and a droid fight. But besides that, this one is emotional too, as Sabine is forced to make a difficult decision, and the title character seemingly dies. Throw a fan favorite return in there, and we have ourselves something truly special.

Ahsoka Episode 4 “Fallen Jedi” Recap

The episode starts off with Huyang and Sabine working to fix the ship, which ended up in bad shape after a fight with Shin and Morgan in the previous episode. Ahsoka was forced to land it in the forest, hoping to give them enough time to repair it while hidden from their enemies.

Meanwhile, Ahsoka is outside, taking in their surroundings and getting a feel for where they are. Sabine comes to join her and Ahsoka points out that they might end up faced with a difficult choice. If they are unable to steal the map back from Morgan, Shin, and Baylan, the only choice could be to destroy it. While this means that they will not be able to find and rescue Ezra, it also means that Thrawn will not return — ultimately meaning no war.

Sabine very clearly does not want to strand Ezra. Ahsoka asks her if she can trust her, and Sabine says yes. However it is obvious that Sabine will do just about anything to find Ezra, and should the time come she likely will not destroy the map.

    Ahsoka episode 4 recap continued…

Scouts for Baylan find the ship and report back that they know where Ahsoka, Sabine, and Huyang are hiding. Morgan Elsbeth orders them to attack, but also sends Shin and Marrok to their location, knowing they will make short work of the guards. While Huyang is repairing the ship from the outside, he is attacked by one of the guard droids.

The two fight rock-em sock-em robot style. Huyang is able to hold his own until Ahsoka and Sabine realize they are needed when the ship loses power again. They rush outside and do indeed make short work of the guards.

As Ahsoka and Sabine head out to find their enemies, Huyang asks a favor of them — to please stay together, stating that they were always best that way.

It doesn’t take long for Sabine and Ahsoka to come across Shin and Marrok. They split into pairs — Sabine vs. Shin (round 2) and Ahsoka vs. Marrok (round 2). The lightsaber battles span quite a bit of time and feature some truly impressive choreography.

During their fight, Shin realizes that Sabine cannot wield the Force and calls her powerless. Ahsoka is able to best Marrok and he poofs into dust. One can only assume that Morgan has used her nightsister magic to make him what he was. Funny as many viewers had theories that under that mask was going to be a big reveal.

    Ahsoka episode 4 recap continued…

As the coordinates are being extracted from the map, Morgan claims she is needed at the ring to prepare for their jump. She leaves Baylan behind to protect the map. Ahsoka, having killed Marrok, leaves Sabine and Shin fighting and rushes out to find the map. Sabine asked her to do this, so she was not abandoning her again.

When she gets to Baylan, he brings up Anakin, claiming that he had spoken highly of Ahsoka and asks why she abandoned him. Ahsoka refuses to talk about her past and the two start fighting. Ahsoka is able to grab the map but it burns her and she drops it. This interrupts the coordinates from being sent to the hyperspace ring, which annoys Morgan.

    Ahsoka episode 4 recap continued…

Shin ultimately uses a smoke bomb to escape Sabine so she can help her master, Baylan. When she gets to them, Ahsoka thinks that Sabine is dead, or left injured, and lashes out at Shin, using the Force to throw her into a rock. Not much later Sabine arrives. Ahsoka orders her to destroy the map and Sabine hesitates.

Baylan uses this opportunity to push Ashoka off the cliff, causing her to plunge into the treacherous waters below. When she doesn’t come back, it appears that she is dead.

Baylan then puts his lightsaber away and starts to convince Sabine that they have a common goal — to journey to where Ezra and Thrawn are. He promises her that no harm will come to her, and she ultimately hands over the map, proving she would do anything for Ezra.

Baylan returns the map and the coordinates finish uploading to Morgan’s ship. Baylan, Sabine, and Shin board Morgan’s ship and prepare for the jump. Right before they leave, Hera arrives in the Ghost with Jacen and Chopper. Morgan orders them to make the jump anyways, which causes a ripple of energy to shake the Ghost up.

The final scene shows Ahsoka waking up somewhere strange — the World Between Worlds, which was featured towards the end of the Star Wars Rebels series. She hears someone call her “Snips”, which is of course Anakin. She turns around to see him, looking young and unaffected by the Dark Side. He states he didn’t expect to see her so soon, and the episode ends.
