Superman & Lois 2×9 Spoiler Review & Recap

Superman & Lois 2×9 spoiler recap and review: Where is Superman? I can’t believe it’s been a month since he has been missing. How will the show handle the Man Of Steel not being around to continue the varying storylines? SPOILERS! You have been warned!

Superman & Lois 2×9 Spoiler Review & Recap

Warning: Spoilers for Superman & Lois 2×9
“30 Days and 30 Nights”

The ending of this week’s episode made me question many things. Another version of Jonathan appears on the Kent Farm. He is dressed up as a version of Superboy from the comics with a leather jacket. Lois and Jordan talk to Jonathan about what’s going on. He says Superman was too late after a brief moment of speaking backward at first. How exactly did this version of Jonathan come through the portal? Does this mean Bizarro Superman could have learned this on his own before his death? What has happened to Superman since he went through the
portal? So many questions, and we will have answers to our questions in due time.

Superman & Lois 2×9 Spoiler Review & Recap

No time was wasted when Ally, who was arrested in last week’s episode, broke out of the D.O.D and was taken to the portal in the mines. The ease of her escape shows she has many people within her cult that can get things done. She travels through the doorway into the other world, and Superman performs an insane stunt to follow her through the portal. Clark flies in a circle nonstop, reminding me of Superman in the 1978 film flying to reverse time. Finally, Superman slams through the portal after a moment of gaining speed, and just like that, he is gone. An insane opening, but unfortunately, the world is now without a Superman.

Superman & Lois 2×9 Spoiler Review & Recap

Jumping to a month later, we see where some storylines have progressed while others have not so much. Smallville’s election for mayor is now upon us, and we see one final push to get the people of the town to vote! Lana ends up winning the election, which now fundamentally changes Lana’s role in the series moving forward. This win might hurt her daughters in the long run as Sarah makes a big decision that changes her life in this episode. With that choice, she goes to her father to spend time with him instead of celebrating with her mother.

Superman & Lois 2×9 Spoiler Review & Recap

Sarah’s decision was one I had predicted, but I thought the show wouldn’t go that route, and I was wrong. Sarah breaks up with Jordan, citing he isn’t putting her first. She hands back the necklace that Jordan gave her, and I honestly was scared for Jordan. I worried he would lose control and reveal his abilities. Thankfully, due to grandpa Sam Lane’s training, he didn’t lose it at that moment. It’s clear Jordan wants to tell Sarah what has been going on, but earlier in the season, Clark was against it. Maybe when the show returns, he will reveal the truth to Sarah, making things worse for everyone. I think telling the truth to Sarah is the wrong decision, but teenagers make stupid choices.

Superman & Lois 2×9 Spoiler Review & Recap

Jordan, before the breakup, proved himself to be capable of handling his powers. Lois convinces Jonathan to reveal who he was covering for when caught with X-Kryptonite. Jonathan’s girlfriend gives up all the info she knows, including where the drugs are. Along with Jordan and her father, Sam, Lois finds a warehouse used to create and distribute the drugs. Sam and Lois are captured, and before anything terrible occurs, Jordan appears. He uses cold breath and uppercuts one guy, a phenomenal moment to show he has been training. Jordan gains his super speed when a criminal using X-Kryptonite shoots heat vision toward Jordan. He can watch the heat vision blast fly past him in slow motion, and he knocks him out with no issue. Jordan is slowly proving he needs to become Superboy at this point.

Superman & Lois 2×9 Spoiler Review & Recap

Not everything is going well for all our characters, as Natalie reveals that today was the day her mother died to evil Superman. Unfortunately, her father, John, forgot the significance of the day. He speaks with Natalie, but it doesn’t go well as expected. John admits that he needs to move on, but Natalie disagrees, saying her mom is why they have their lives now. I agree with both of them on different points, and there is no easy answer on how to deal with a death that significant. Later, we see John watch footage of Lois holding baby Natalie. John breaks down crying, which is entirely understandable. The loss of that magnitude and how she died will affect John for the rest of his life. However, he later admits to Natalie that she was right and that they should celebrate her life.

The show always delivers on multiple storylines and seeing these characters grow is always great. Unfortunately, we are now on a massive break from season 2. Lois Lane’s actor Bitsie confirmed that the intervals between episodes are due to their filming schedule. I love how the show progressed this episode without Superman being involved. I can’t wait for the series to return.

About Superman & Lois

After years of facing supervillains, monsters and alien invaders, the world’s most famous superhero, The Man of Steel aka Clark Kent and comic books’ famed journalist Lois Lane come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever — dealing with being working parents in today’s society.

Complicating the already daunting job of raising two boys, Clark and Lois worry about whether their sons, Jonathan and Jordan, could inherit their father’s Kryptonian superpowers as they grow older.

Returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business, Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang and her Fire Chief husband, Kyle Cushing. The adults aren’t the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle’s rebellious daughter, Sarah.

Of course, there’s never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois’ father, Gen. Samuel Lane looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment’s notice.

Superman & Lois is available to stream on The CW now.
