We shouldn’t be surprised that Superman & Lois delivered another fantastic episode again. With epic action, emotional discussions, and surprises galore. Being only four episodes in, it’s clear this series won’t be slowing down anytime soon. So let’s dive into this episode that just kept giving. SPOILERS! You have been warned!
Warning: Spoilers for Superman & Lois 2×4 “The Inverse Method” Ahead
With Bizarro revealed in last week’s episode, the question we all had was when will he appear again? The answer, almost immediately. Bizarro uses heat breath (fire coming out of his mouth) in an attempt to destroy the pendant around his neck. He then has visions of Clark eating breakfast; Bizarro then rushes over towards Kent Farm.
Why is he trying to destroy the charm? Maybe it’s causing a curse on him or something to where he wants it gone.
Bizarro arrives on the Kent Farm, having a brief fight with Clark. The pendant on Bizarro creates a glow around both of them. We see they are trying to back off from each other at one point. They are pulled back towards each other, and it confuses Clark. John Henry Irons throws his hammer, breaking the two apart.
Bizarro leaves; this is just the appetizer before the entree later. Some have theorized that Bizarro was trying to merge with Clark, so why exactly would he want that? Why hasn’t anyone attempted to try and speak with Bizarro? I know that is an odd question, but maybe there is more to this than what we see. Bizarro might not be the monster we believe him to be.
Later, we have Clark meet Anderson. This conversation wasn’t going to go the way Clark thought, but he needed help tracking Bizarro. Of course, Anderson doesn’t agree with Clark’s deal of telling him when he locates Bizarro; instead, he sends his team of supers.
This choice proves to be a terrible idea. Almost immediately, two of them are murdered, Clark seeing it in his visions. Tag, who we have seen from time to time, is the only one left. Superman saves him before Bizarro attempts to merge with him or kill him. The fight we witnessed between Superman & Bizarro is one of the best in the show’s history, and you felt each punch when they landed.
John Henry Irons shows up to help Superman, throwing his hammer. It shattered when it collided with Bizarro, but this didn’t do much to slow Bizarro down. John gets slammed by Bizarro in retaliation, and this almost kills him. With his suit having no power, I feared the worst.
However, John helping shows how far he has come from Season 1. He hates Superman from his earth, and here he is, risking his life to help our Superman. We end this part of the episode with John at a military hospital, and things aren’t looking good for him. I don’t believe they will kill him off, but I wouldn’t be surprised since this show constantly keeps us on our toes.
Another major storyline we followed was the return of Lucy Lane. The show opens with a flashback when Lucy leaves Lois to go back to Ally, who Lois doesn’t trust. They argue over Lucy’s choice and Lois being the protective sister that Lucy needs. We then see the continuation of the scene of Lois in the diner with Ally at the end of the last episode.
Lois stands her ground, calling Ally out for her manipulation and running a cult. However, Ally also stands her ground, not showing Lois phases her. A very heated scene and this is just the beginning. This exchange shows how brutal this storyline is going to get.

Chrissy, Lois’ partner at the paper, was invited to a lecture being run by Ally. Chrissy wore a disguise, but Ally could figure out it was Chrissy right away. While the address is happening, Lucy allows Lois five minutes to speak in her hotel room. What unfolds from here was shocking and shows that Superman & Lois is a series that will surprise us in many different ways.
Lucy is secretly filming the argument with Lois, and Ally shows some of it to Chrissy as proof of Lois’ bias. Lois admits to Lucy she didn’t write what Lucy said about Ally because she believed Lucy was not in the right state of mind. Still, I think Lois is correct with all this involving Ally, but now Chrissy is unsure, even calling Ally at the end. Can Lois be trusted anymore when she writes an article?
During these two insane storylines, we also have the twins making choices that may backfire. Jonathan, after some hesitation, takes X-Kryptonite, causing him to improve his senses. I was hoping he wouldn’t, but unfortunately, being a teen, he will make bad decisions at this point in his life. Jonathan starts to dominate football practice, and I believe this positive response will go downhill quickly for him. On the other hand, Jordan uses his cold breath to stop some shoplifters.
I love that he stepped up, being the hero he will eventually become. Jordan finds out the store has security cameras, which caught him using his powers. He makes a quick call to Grandpa Sam, who scrambles the footage, so he isn’t exposed. He later reveals to his grandfather that he wants to train to help his father be Superman. Superboy is coming, and I can’t wait for it!
Superman & Lois is on break for a few weeks, which is unfortunate as I need the next episode now. However, I was most surprised when Lucy didn’t hint at maybe leaving Ally but doubling down on staying with her. This season is looking to be another phenomenal one, and anyone not watching this show is missing out.
About Superman & Lois
After years of facing supervillains, monsters and alien invaders, the world’s most famous superhero, The Man of Steel aka Clark Kent and comic books’ famed journalist Lois Lane come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever — dealing with being working parents in today’s society.
Complicating the already daunting job of raising two boys, Clark and Lois worry about whether their sons, Jonathan and Jordan, could inherit their father’s Kryptonian superpowers as they grow older.
Returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business, Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang and her Fire Chief husband, Kyle Cushing. The adults aren’t the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle’s rebellious daughter, Sarah.
Of course, there’s never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois’ father, Gen. Samuel Lane looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment’s notice.
Superman & Lois is available to stream on The CW now.
