The Hunt Is An Insane Ride And I Loved Every Second Of It

If you enjoy movies that have you baffled from moment to gore-filled moment, you are sure to LOVE The Hunt! I know I did.

Ever since seeing the first trailer for The Hunt, I knew it was going to be a crazy movie. I mean, it is about people LITERALLY hunting people. Twelve individuals wake up in a field and immediately start getting picked off one by one. I think my jaw was hanging open for the first full twenty minutes of the movie — maybe more.

Talk about sucking you in. I have never had a movie catch my attention this quickly — and keep it throughout the entire film. There wasn’t one moment where I started browsing my phone from lack of interest. And that says a lot because I usually check my phone at least a handful of times during a movie (not in a theater of course).

Is It Too Gorey?

I had some friends ask me if The Hunt had too much gore. Honestly, I am not the best person to ask this question because I love gore! I know I have said this before but I love movies with crazy, off the wall deaths — and The Hunt delivers that.

However, I don’t think it is enough to make it hard to watch. Sure there is blood and exploding body parts, but it isn’t super graphic (just really cool). If you have a weak stomach you should still be able to enjoy this film, just look away now and then.

A Star Studded Cast

The lineup for this cast is insane (just like the movie). I was so excited to see people like Justin Hartley and Emma Roberts but I quickly learned not to get attached to anyone (or any animal) in this movie. Each person played their role perfectly and while I was surprised to see so many leave so quickly, it just made The Hunt that much better. From beginning to end I had no clue what was happening. I had no idea who to believe. And I loved every single second of it.

Is It Too Political?

Something I heard time and time again before seeing The Hunt is that it was a very political movie. I mean, I could tell that right from the trailers. The word liberal was thrown around a lot, and it seemed like there would be major underlying political themes in the film. But there really wasn’t.

Don’t get me wrong, it was there, but it didn’t take away from the story. It wasn’t overwhelming, or too much. At least in my opinion. The scary part is, this almost seemed like something that could happen in real life. That is what got me more than the political message. This whole plot seemed like something I could read in the news and be like well that was crazy — but also not second guess that it actually happened.

Overall Thoughts

The Hunt is more than worth a watch! If you like movies that will have you on your toes with your eyes glued to the screen the whole time, it is for you. This movie takes a banana pants crazy plot and makes it seem just a little bit believable. You won’t know who to root for or even exactly what is going on for most of the film — which is part of it’s charm. Oh, and get ready to fall in love with Orwell. Just don’t get TOO attached.

About The Hunt

Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are — or how they got there. In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, ruthless elitists gather at a remote location to hunt humans for sport. But their master plan is about to be derailed when one of the hunted, Crystal, turns the tables on her pursuers.
