She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode 5 Review
WARNING: There are spoilers ahead.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 5 is here, and while there are not many Easter eggs in the episode, there are a lot of super fun surprises and details — as well as an epic tease for what is to come next week!
The opening was really well done. After last episode we know that Titania has trademarked the name She-Hulk and this episode is the legal process behind Jennifer Walters getting the name back. We start this episode with Walters’ reaction to Titania’s brand. It was a super fast start to the episode, but it works for the short runtime.
Before getting any further with the story in this episode, we have to mention the CG in this episode — because it is near perfect. CG never takes ‘points’ away from a show but when they do it well, it enhances the story and show overall — so credit is given where it is due.
Moving on, we see Pug take Nikki to a superhero clothing tailor, of course at the end of the episode we get THE tease but more on that later… We get to the court room and in terms of writing it wasn’t anything too special.
A lot of the jokes hit but the ones that didn’t were super cringe. In terms of the content of the case itself, it was a great way to move the story forward and add more to Jennifer Walter’s character. They did this best when her dates from the last episode were brought in.
The guy she took home last episodes says, “no, I wouldn’t” when asked if he would go on a second date with Jennifer, not She Hulk. Now it isn’t blatantly stated but we can see it in Walter’s fake smile that it hurts that a lot of people only like her for She-Hulk and even earlier in the episode she said there are perks of just being she hulk.
She talks about not getting hangovers but also her “perfect hair”. This might have been a callback to a previous episode where one of her family members at the table made a comment about it.
She-Hulk is the “PERFECT” beauty standard and slowly Jen is starting to see people around her want that side more, at the law firm, in her family, and in her love life. But that is why the moment is so important, because she still stands with being Jennifer first.
But now to the tease that has everyone hyped, at the end of the episode we see Jen go back to the tailor shop to try on her new suit and as she is putting it on the stylist put a yellow helmet into a pick up box. Of course, it is the yellow Daredevil helmet.
This obviously means he will be in next week’s episode but also one interesting is that this designer only works with well known heroes so the question is now, how Daredevil’s continuity is going to work in the MCU” – will he be picked up from where season 3 of the Netflix show left off, or will he be a “established” hero in the street-level MCU at this point?
Now there is one last funny Easter egg and this happens in the credits, we see pug shoe shopping with the Iron Man 3’s in his hand, but in the back are a BUCH of different superhero shoes. The regular ones I noticed were Deadpool, Captain America, Moon Knight, black panther, and Captain Marvel.
But there are a few more that are crazy — there is one with the Tobey Maguire Spiderman logo, cyclops, and the thing design. These might not mean much in terms of introducing characters but they were some really cool Easter eggs.
We are beyond excited for next week’s episode!
