The Boys Season 3 Episode 4 delivers some great action and plot points. Here is our The Boys 3×4 spoiler recap and review.

The boys season 3 episode 4 review recap

Warning: The Boys Season 3 Episodes 4 Spoilers Ahead.

So we start this episode with the repercussions of last episode with Starlight, Homelander, and Hughie. I love this weird and awkward dynamic between Hughie and Homelander but Hughie never really backs down and though later in the episode he takes the temporary V, he doesn’t have it yet and is still confident (but kind of fearful still).

I think Hughie and Starlight through this episode, though separated, still had development through their more personal arc because of the ending of the episode but also Hughie becoming a literal supe by the end of the episode.

Before talking about anything else, I have to mention the high that Hughie is on because of the temporary V because I don’t think it is going to sit well with Butcher. My guess is that whenever Starlight finds out about this, Hughie is going to use the excuse that she likes ‘supes’ like Homelander and Alex, then she will tell him Alex is dead.

I don’t think he will stop taking the V though, this is because he still feels powerful, like he doesn’t have to back down from the bullies and that it understandable especially after everything he has gone through.

Moving to another story, last week I was super disappointed by Frenchie’s storyline regarding this random lady and honestly, I was getting bored of that last week… but they used her super well this episode. This lady gives The Boys transport to Soldier Boy and though the trip doesn’t turn out the best for them, she was utilized really well for the screen time she had.

We also get more on A-train’s story and this has surprisingly been one of my favorite storylines of the season. I’ve enjoyed his arc through the show since the beginning but the tussle he has with The Deep and social problems he wants to tackle are really interesting to me.

We later realize that he will literally do anything to get on Homelander’s good side, by ratting out Starlight and Alex, but this regular story arc he has going is really well done, thus far.

In terms of big overall story points we got development with Stan Edgar as Homelander outed him and got him arrested. We also learn that Newman isn’t Edgar’s daughter but was a weapon, there is this storyline with her kid but I’m not sure exactly what direction they are going with it, but the little we were shown, had me intrigued.

We end this episode with a great action scene in the facility where Soldier Boy is being kept where Butcher outs himself with his powers to The Boys in order to save them, but Hughie also does it and his isn’t as cool — but it matches his character.

The action overall in this episode was very good, the Kimiko fight and Billy/Hughie vs the soldiers fights were well choreographed and as a whole this season the action has been great.

Then we get to the end of the episode and my jaw was on the ground. We see that Homelander obliterated Alex and threatened Starlight that if any more plans are made and if she does one more thing out of place, he will kill Hughie like he did Alex. There isn’t much else to say here except for express my HYPE for next week’s episode.

As a whole The Boys season 3 has delivered on all fronts thus far and this episode is no different.

    About The Boys Season 3

It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious Anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into the Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first Superhero: Soldier Boy.

The Boys is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes—who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods—abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. Intent on stopping the corrupt superheroes, The Boys, a group of vigilantes, continue their heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven and Vought—the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. It’s the seemingly powerless against the super powerful.

Season Three of The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Jensen Ackles.

The Boys Season 3 is streaming on Prime Video now.
