After defeating the Briarwoods in season 1, Vox Machina now must take on a whole slew of dragons who call themselves the Chroma Conclave. Defeating one dragon was hard enough, now they need to find a way to kill four of them -- each one has a deadly power such as acid, poison fog, or ice.
The overall story of the season is very well written. Of course it really did all come down to the roll of the dice when it was formed through gameplay, but it plays on the screen wonderfully.
The team cracks jokes, some of them raunchy, which offers a bit of a reprieve to the heaviness of what is at stake. Dragons are, quite literally, taking over the world -- and they have a plan that is even more sinister than one might expect.
Throughout the journey viewers get to learn more about their favorite characters, as they learn more about themselves. Nearly every episode has action in one form or another, keeping the pacing moving along at high speed.
The final episode of each grouping is intense and emotional, and will likely have fans in tears. As the season wraps up, episode 12 offers a bit of hope, before ripping it all away. Leaving everyone on a massive cliffhanger as we wait for the inevitable season 3.
The Legend Of Vox Machina season 1 gave us a whole lot of time with Percy. The story revolving the Briarwoods allowed us to dive deeply into his past, so it makes sense that he takes a bit of a step backwards in season 2.
That being said, the character development that we get for the rest of the gang allows us to form that same kind of love and feeling for them that we did for Percy last season. The same goes for Pike, although there are some fantastic moments between her and Grog in season 2.
Allows fans to get to know the main characters on a deeper level, as they discover truths about themselves as well.
