Piece By Piece is completely mesmerizing. It is extremely creative exactly in the same way that Pharrell Williams is, and will inspire you to reach for the stars.
I, of course, have heard of Pharrell Williams. However, I had no idea the extent of his journey and his creativeness. Piece By Piece is a mesmerizing biopic that will have viewers completely enthralled. By the end of this film, I thought to myself, of course this man made this movie all in LEGO, it is exactly his type of creativitiy.
To be honest, there are multiple projects mentioned throughout the documentary that I did not know he was a part of. But this movie is not here to show off his past work, but rather to inspire others to keep fighting for what you want.
I would be lying if I said I did not hit the ground running when it comes to my professional and creative path immediately after watching this film – because I did. It has inspired me to reach for the starts, even if I feel they are far out of my reach. And I truly think that is what Pharrell set out to do with Piece By Piece.
This is a biopic so of course we are going to hear about his accomplishments. But diving into his childhood, and his life, was so incredibly intriguing that I could not look away. In an introduction to the film, Pharrell himself admitted that he has been arrogant in his life. These moments that are touched on in the film, only inspire those watching to come at life with gratitude rather than arrogance. Be thankful for what you have, and who you have, and the rest will follow.
Seeing some of my favorite artists in LEGO form is far more entertaining than I ever expected it would be. This brings humor to certain moments that might have otherwise felt too serious. Piece By Piece is visually stunning, there is no denying that. It is a gorgeous movie. Vibrant. And filled with color. You can feel the love that went into this project.
Of course, the soundtrack is fire. I would not expect anything less from Pharrell Williams. Not only do we get to dance along to songs that were created throughout his career, viewers are treated to several original songs that were made just for Piece By Piece. And yes, they are amazing.
I suddenly found myself emotionally invested in Pharrell’s story. And, I admit, I cried. Over an animated piece of plastic depicting a person whom I have never met and have no idea what she looked like in real life. There is a deeper message here and I hope that everyone who watches Piece By Piece walks away wanting to call the ones they love.
Piece By Piece is beautiful to look at. It is funny. It is entertaining. It is going to teach you things you did not know about Pharrell Williams. But most importantly, it is going to inspire. Never take advantage of the gifts you have been given. Make sure that the ones you love know that you do. If you keep those two things in mind, you can never go wrong.
