2022 is coming to an end, and with that come many rankings of things that were released throughout the year. We will be joining in with our 2022 comic book series ranked — from worst to best. Marvel, DC, and even other comic books had adaptations that were released this year. Let’s discuss.

Naomi

The first few episodes of Naomi were really great and attention grabbing, but then they went all downhill from there. It just never became a priority watch and eventually felt like a struggle to catch up. It comes as no surprise to us that it was canceled before getting a season two.

DC’s Stargirl

The final season of DC’s Stargirl aired in 2022. The beginning was intriguing and interesting, but the ending felt extremely rushed. There even seemed to be some unanswered questions at the end. Overall, for those fans of the series, it felt like a rushed and unsatisfactory ending. This is likely because the writers were told the series was canceled part way through the season. Clearly there were plans to keep DC’s Stargirl running for a few more seasons.

Paper Girls

We have very minimal complaints about Paper Girls. For those who read, and love, the comics, this series is great. They did a wonderful job bringing it to life. They changed some things around but what they did made sense story wise. Also, the cast in incredible with great on screen chemistry.

Titans (Season 4 Part 1)

Not knowing much about the main villains of this season of Titans certainly helped, as we can’t compare Mother Mayhem and Brother Blood to their comic book counterparts. This season has had its highs and lows, but overall, the story is fantastic. We can’t wait for the second part.

The Boys Season 3

This season was insane — Herogasm, anyone? It was absolutely bonkers in a great way. The cast has always been great but they really brought their A-game this time around. The Boys really pushes the envelope and is completely unafraid to make you think of things that are happening in real life. They don’t shy away from politics and it works in their favor.

Moon Knight

Oscar Isaac is phenomenal in Moon Knight. The way he plays two (or three, really) different characters is amazing. The man is a talent. Moon Knight was unlike anything we have seen from Marvel before, and totally pushed the envelope. It is dark, gritty, and is unafraid to tackle mental health issues.

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is completely unafraid to make fun of itself and that is why it worked so well. The cast was great and this is one of the funniest additions to the MCU. The finale took it to a whole new level and we cannot wait to see more from these characters.

The Sandman. (L to R) Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, Tom Sturridge as Dream in episode 104 of The Sandman. Cr. Courtesy of Netflix © 2022

Sandman

We love Neil Gaiman so it should be no shock as to how much we love this series. These are hard books to adapt for the screen, but they pulled it off. It truly delivered and we cannot wait to see where it goes from here. The cast is incredible and the visuals are absolutely stunning.

Ms. Marvel

The more we think about it, the more we love Ms. Marvel. Not only is this a great family show, it is a ton of fun and offers fantastic representation. Iman Vellani knows Marvel inside and out, which makes her the perfect casting choice of Kamala Khan. We can totally relate to her and cannot wait to see her in The Marvels next year.

Peacemaker

Talk about serious pushing the envelope — James Gunn brought humor, action, and a killer soundtrack to DC with this one. The way he integrates comedy and pushing the envelope and throwing vulgar things in there every now and then is brilliant. But then he is able to give us some really sweet moments and heart as well.
