INTERVIEW

The Theme of the Film

Director Chris McKay says that the important part of the script for him was touching on the theme of what do you owe the world? Do you sacrifice the years that you have left in order to leave it a better place for others? Or do you simply try to push that out of your mind and carry on with your life?

What Drew You To Your Character?

"When we first get a glimpse of my estranged dad non-relationship, I was hoping there was going to be some kind of a worthwhile journey there. There is – no spoilers. It was great to be able to incorporate that small picture with the gigantic picture of are we going to save the world or not?” – JK Simons

“Everyone who goes forward into the future is over the age of 30 & everyone who’s come back is under the age of 30 because you can’t live in both timelines. You're dealing with people who are making life decisions based not on the life that they could lead, but rather the world that they’re leaving for their children.” – Chris Pratt

"I’ve spent many years with Wounded Warriors talking to vets who suffer from PTSD, things of that nature, just to understand a different perspective of how we deal with war and the consequences that reflect on us physically, emotionally, and mentally." - Edwin Hodge

At the beginning and the end of this movie, for many ways, it’s a family story."

- Screenwriter Zach Dean

Filming Challenges

"You could ask me this question on 10 different days and I might give you 10 different answers because it really was a physical film and there is so much to choose from." - Chris Pratt "This entire film was just action packed non-stop." - Edwin Hodge

The hardest thing I had to do was just fall on accident. I don't know how you make that look real.
