Our Flag Means Death Review

Once Taika Waititi's Blackbeard shows up, the show really takes off!"

– Mama's Geeky

This ragtag group of pirates can never seem to do anything right. I don't want to give any spoilers but each and every one of these characters has their own things going on -- which for the most part, just add to the comedy and drama.

This series does start out a bit slow. The humor is hit or miss at first and while I understand there is a lot of world building and set up for what is to come, there are quite a bit of lulls.

Guest stars include Fred Armisen, Leslie Jones, and Nick Kroll -- all added into the fold perfectly, with truly hysterical storylines that fit their strengths to a T.

While the first few episodes aren't all bad by any means, the show really takes off after he arrives in episode 3. Rhys Darby and Waititi have worked together a lot in the past, and they are always a joy to watch together.

Our Flag Means Death Review

Our Flag Means Death takes a little while to get going, but once Waititi and Darby are allowed to share the screen together, the fun doesn't stop. By the end of the fifth episode, I was all in and am eager to see what is going to happen next.

3 out of 5
