Marvel’s Hit-Monkey Season 2 Is Even Better Than The First

Marvel’s Hit-Monkey season 2 is darker, grittier, and more emotional than the first season. With interesting new characters, including the devil himself, the stakes are high.

Marvel’s Hit-Monkey season 1 perfectly caputured the craziness and level of violence from the comic books. Season 2 does a great job of raising the bar, and somehow delivering an even better story, that isn’t afraid to really push the envelope while also bringing in some truly emotional moments.

In season 2, Hit-Monkey (Fred Tatasciore) is in New York City. Bryce (Jason Sudeikis) makes a deal with the devil to give him his physical body back for just forty-eight hours. He must decide when the best times to go ghost are so that he doesn’t waste his time. After finding his daughter, he tries to connect with her, which is one of the most heartwarming, and often hilarious, parts of Hit-Monkey season 2.

At the same time, Monkey is being tracked down by Akiko after the final events of Hit-Monkey season 1, and rightfully so. Hit-Monkey is having second thoughts and regrets from all the killing he has been doing. This season is all about redemption, which is beautiful, evne through the darkest times.

Bryce being able to take a physical form changes the dynamic between him and Monkey quite a bit. In the past, Hit-Monkey has had to communicate for him, so this change gives him a bit of freedom to explore what he truly wants to do with his life. This is good for their relationship as well, allowing them space when they need it.

There are plenty of new faces in Marvel’s Hit-Monkey season two. Besides Bryce’s daughter Iris (Cristin Milioti), Eunice (Leslie Jones) has the biggest role. Eunice is Bryce’s agent, and becomes Monkey’s agent. Her relationship with Monkey is hilarious, in that they can poke fun at Bryce and commiserate with one another about how he gets on their nerves.

The Assassin’s Cooperative also plays a large role this season, and while we wish we could talk more about them, we want to keep things generic for fear of spoilers. Just know that they pop up throughout the season, with some major moments in the final few episodes. They add a lot of fun and mystery to the season, as well as quite a few laughs.

Overall Thoughts

Marvel’s Hit-Monkey season 2 takes things up a notch with more violence, more craziness, more action, and even more heart. The story as a whole is about redemption and second chances, which is more touching than one might expect from a series that isn’t afraid to push the envelope when it comes to gore.

Things end on a big cliffhanger that will have fans begging for a season 3 of Marvel’s Hit-Monkey.

Season 2 of Hit-Monkey will premiere on Monday, July 15 on Hulu.
