Big City Greens fans will be absolutely thrilled with its first (hopefully of many) film, Big City Greens the Movie: Spacecation. At the red carpet premiere, we caught up with the talent that lends their voices to the characters, as well as the creators, to discuss what they are excited for fans to see, the inspiration behind Big City Greens, and more.
Big City Greens the Movie: Spacecation follows the Green family as they embark on an adventurous outer space-bound vacation. When thrill-seeker Cricket tricks his family into taking a “road trip” in space, chaos in the cosmos quickly ensues.

GRAMMA ALICE, CRICKET, TILLY, BILL
Brothers and Big City Greens creators, Chris and Shane Houghton, explain that the idea for the series came about because they moved from the country to Los Angeles when they were kids. The character of Cricket is very much inspired by Chris, so it is only fitting that he voices him. Gramma Alice is based on their real life Gramma Alice, as well. They always say write what you know, and these two took it to heart. Perhaps that is why this series is so successful and well loved, that there is now a movie.
When asked if Big City Greens the Movie: Spacecation can be a standalone film, or if you have to have seen the series to understand what is going on, every single person stated that it absolutely can. There are certain things in the movie that are there as fun Easter eggs or nods to past episodes, but this also serves as a great introduction to the Greens.
