Ahsoka Episode 3 Recap

Ahsoka episode 3 opens showing Sabine training with Huyang. She is doing good, and both Ahsoka and Huyang state it is clear she remembers the basics from before, but that she still needs to continue to learn. Because of her Mandalorian heritage and upbringing, she knows how to handle a weapon, but she has not yet learned to master the Force.

Ahsoka instructs Sabine to put on a mask that stops her from seeing. Now she must sense the force in order to fight Ashoka. It doesn’t take her long to start to figure out what Ahsoka is up to, and for her to use her other sense to locate where Ahsoka will strike from.

Ahsoka explains to Sabine that she should start small, as she uses the Force to pull a cup towards her, indicating that Sabine should do the same. As Sabine tries to pull the cup over, Ahsoka goes to the cockpit of her ship to talk with Huyang as they wait for Hera to let them know if the New Republic will be joining them on the mission to find Thrawn and Ezra.

Meanwhile Sabine is meeting with Chancellor Mothma in order to ask for aid from the New Republic on this journey to track down Thrawn. Mothma asks Hera how Jacen is, the first mention of Hera and Kanan’s son that was born at the end of Star Wars Rebels. Hera jokes that he is running around the ship somewhere, to which Mothma responds likely causing trouble with Chopper.

Hera goes on to explain why she needs their help. That their enemies are still out there, and even hidden among them as proven at the shipyard in episode two. There are Empire loyalists and they think that Thrawn is alive, and feel they know how to find him. Senator Xiono feels that they have wasted enough resources on this nonsense, and thinks that Hera is only asking for their help to find Ezra, not Thrawn.

He states that Thrawn is dead, and so is Ezra. The New Republic will not be helping Ahsoka and Sabine on their mission. Perhaps the best thing to come out of the conversation Hera had with Mothma, is the mention of Jacen. After she leaves the meeting room, he runs up to her and asks if it is true that his Aunt Sabine is learning to be a Jedi. He states that he wants to be a Jedi too (just like his daddy!). He is clearly about seven years old, indicating how much time has passed since the end of Star Wars Rebels.

Once Ahsoka and Sabine reach their destination, they want to know what Morgan Elsbeth is up to with the transport from the shipyard. They are immediately met by Shin and Marrock, the strange man dressed in black that Ahsoka fought last episode. What follows is an intense and exciting battle between all the ships, in which Ahsoka and Sabine must learn to trust each other and work together.

As the approach what Morgan has been building, they realize it looks like a hyperspace ring. Huyang scans it to learn more, but it takes so long that the ship is attacked by Morgan. It doesn’t get destroyed, but it is not well off, at all. Huyang loses consciousness and takes quite a while to reboot.

While he is down, the ship senses something big — which turns out to be some space whales, known as Purrgil, which Ezra was always able to communicate with. This almost feels like a sign from him. The Purrgil help to provide camouflage for the ship as it escapes Shin, Marrock, and Morgan. They land on the planet for cover, and when Huyang awakens he explains the ring is so massive that it could jump to another galaxy — if they have the coordinates.
