Hailee Steinfeld Didn’t Audition For The Role Of Kate Bishop In Hawkeye

Hailee Steinfeld perfectly embodies fan favorite comic book character Kate Bishop in Hawkeye, and she didn’t even have to audition for the role.

Hawkeye press conference Hailee Steinfeld

Kate Bishop is a fan favorite comic book character whose mentor is none other than Clint Barton, AKA Hawkeye. In the new Marvel series, Hawkeye, coming to Disney+, this role is played by the incredibly talented Hailee Steinfeld. During the press conference, Marvel President Kevin Feige was asked if it was clear she was perfect for the role when she auditioned, and Feige then dropped a bomb — Hailee never even auditioned for the role.

Feige explains that Marvel was very, very lucky that Hailee was open to coming in as Kate Bishop because they believed they needed her for the role. “She was the prototype for the character,” he adds, saying that occasionally the dream version of the character agrees to do it.

“We were very thankful that she wanted to jump into this role because we had a feeling that she would be great. And she is.” – Kevin Feige

Hailee is indeed perfect for the role, as many critics who have already seen the first two episodes have expressed on twitter. When asked about her time as Kate, Hailee confesses that “playing this character forced me to find a confidence and determination and a discipline that’s always been inside me.” Jeremy Renner was happy to add that she came in hot and was ready to rock.
