Into The Dark: Good Boy Is A Must Watch Thriller

Into The Dark: The Good Boy is the latest in the series and here to celebrate National Pet Appreciation month. It’s a fun horror/thriller that is more than worth a watch!

good boy review

If you have not been watching the Into The Dark series on Hulu, you are truly missing out. These are monthly films that come out, each usually themed to some kind of holiday. They are all fun thriller/horror movies and I have enjoyed each and every one of them. Not one of them is “bad” in my opinion. The latest in the series, Good Boy, is for National Pet Appreciation Month and it is SO MUCH FUN to watch!

Good Boy stars Judy Greer (who is PHENOMENAL in this) as a lonely, older woman named Maggie. There are a lot of things going on in her life that are causing her stress. Her job, her dating life, and the fact that she wants kids but hears her biological clock ticking.

After it is suggested to her that she gets an emotional support dog, she heads to the shelter. Maggie instantly notices an adorable little dog, and adopts him. She names him Reuben after he jumps up on the counter and eats her entire sandwich.

He ends up being a great emotional support dog because he takes her stress away — by literally killing any one who adds stress to her life. Things are really looking up for Maggie, but will they stay that way? You will have to watch and see!

Judy Greer Carries The Film

When I say that Judy carries this film, I don’t mean that in a bad way. The movie itself is really good. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I was hooked instantly. Who doesn’t love a fun thriller? Plus, we get the perfect amount of gore and blood. Not too much, but not to little. My one complaint would be that we don’t see the vicious dog on camera enough.

But back to Judy. She is so great in this movie. Her costar for a lot of her scenes is a dog, and she does such a great job with that. She is just the right mix of creepy and nice — making her character really believable. I even felt bad for her throughout a lot of the movie!

Overall Thoughts

Into The Dark: Good boy is one of my favorite episodes of this season. Not only is Judy Greer so perfect at being just a little creepy, the plot is great too. I have two little dogs and I can totally imagine them turning into a monster to protect me if I needed it. Of course I wouldn’t want them to do that, but I can imagine it happening.

Good Boy is more of a thriller than a horror movie, and it is a lot of fun! Totally a must watch movie, especially for dog lovers!
