Think Like A Dog Movie Review: Fart Jokes For The Win

Think Like A Dog may not be a hit with most adults, but kids are sure to love it! You can’t go wrong with a talking dog and fart jokes!

think like a dog

Think Like A Dog might not be on my list of favorite movies, but my young daughters sure enjoyed it. They are 7 and 8 years old and they were cracking up through most of the movie. Since they watched it I have been fielding all sorts of questions about why they can’t try to create a device that will allow them to talk to and understand our dogs. The obvious is answer is that it is a little bit dangerous, while they are this age anyways. But that isn’t stopping them from making plans for when they are a bit older.

Think Like A Dog is the story of a kid, Oliver, who invents a device that allows him to hear his dog’s thoughts. That means they can have full on conversations, which is pretty cool. My daughters were immediately hooked on this movie, and were excited to see what happens. While I found it a bit slow and predictable, it isn’t the worst movie I have seen recently.

I was nervous that there wouldn’t be a true villain in Think Like A Dog at first, but I was pleasantly surprised when I was proven wrong. I wasn’t a fan of the “kid trying tricks to get their parents to decide to to get a divorce” plot, as it feels a bit overdone. However, that didn’t overshadow the rest of the movie and wasn’t the main plot, so I was OK with it.

Overall Thoughts

If you are looking for a movie that the whole family will have fun watching, Think Like A Dog is a good choice. This movie might put together several overplayed plots, but they actually kind of work. The kiddos are sure to crack up at the multiple fart jokes — and if you have a dog, you know that dog farts are the WORST.

Yes, the movie could have been better, but it could have been a lot worse. My daughters both truly enjoyed this movie, and were on the edge of their seats multiple times — wondering what was going to happen next. My husband and I had it figured out from the beginning, but we had a lot of fun watching it with the kiddos!
