What You Need to Know About Getting Sick at Disney World

While we would like to think pixie dust stops us from getting sick at Disney World, that isn’t always the case. Here is what you need to know if you do.

sick at disney worlf

A Disney vacation is often nothing short of magical. However, sometimes that magic dwindles and you or a family member gets sick. I have been there before. In fact, it seems like at least one of us gets sick during every Disney vacation. So since I am (unfortunately) an expert on this, I want to share with you my tips on what to do when getting sick at Disney World.

The Front Desk Will Sell You Medicine After The Store Closes

Sick in the middle of the night? Have no fear! Disney has you covered. After the store closes, you can still purchase medicine at the front desk of your resort. The process does take a little bit of time, about 10 minutes, as you will have to fill out some paperwork. However, this certainly comes in handy if you, or your little one, gets ill after the store closes.

You Can Have Medicine Delivered

Did you know that you can have medicine delivered right to your resort? We discovered this a few trips ago and have used it many times since. Turner Drugs can not only help you out with prescription drugs, you can also shop for over the counter drugs. Some of the most popular things you can order are contact solution, toothpaste, and sunscreen.

But if you are sick at Disney and need full size items that your resort store doesn’t have, you can order medicines like NyQuil, PediCare, Advil, and so much more! Of course, you can always take home whatever is left, so it won’t feel like a waste of money.

Clinics In The Parks

First Aid is available in every Walt Disney World park. This is a great way to monitor your child’s fever, if they have one. The first aid centers are more than happy to check a temperature for you — and provide you with free medicine if needed. Here is where they are located at each park:

  • Epcot – In the building between the World Showcase and Future World, the Mexico side.
  • Hollywood Studios – Directly to the right of the entrance when entering the park.
  • Magic Kingdom – Behind The Crystal Palace, on the Casey’s Corner side.
  • Animal Kingdom – To the side of Creature Comforts, between Discovery Island and Africa.

Nurses are available during normal park operating hours to offer over-the-counter medications, bandages and other quick remedies so that you can begin enjoying your vacation again.

Offsite Urgent Care

If the worst happens and you need urgent care ASAP, have no fear. Disney really does have you covered. AdventHealth Walk-In Urgent Care Centers are open 24-hours a day, 7 days per week. Disney even provides complimentary transportation for guests. Plus, many insurance plans are accepted, which I think is awesome. If you want more information, call (407) 934-2273.

In-Room Medical Services

Disney is fantastic for everything — and that includes wanting you to be healthy again. They actually offer in-room medical services at all of their Walt Disney World Resort hotels. All you have to do is touch “Front Desk” from your in-room phone and they will get you all set. Even better — this is available 24 hours a day.
