When my girls and I saw the first Abominable trailer, we knew it was a movie we wanted to see. Unfortunately it never worked out for us to see it in theaters, so we were thrilled when DreamWorks sent us a copy on Blu-ray. This movie far exceeded my expectations — and I can see us watching it time and time again.
My daughters are 6 and 8 years old and they LOVED this movie. They were glued to the television screen the entire time. My husband and I were right along with them. Sure, it was a bit predictable, it is a kids movie after all. However, it was very entertaining, and taught some great lifelong lessons.

Predictable But Sweet
Abominable is a kids movie, and most kids movies are predictable. This one is too. I promised to keep this spoiler free, so I will, but just know that if you think something is going to happen, it probably will. However, the movie is still very entertaining. I laughed a lot, and even shed a few tears.
Lessons To Be Learned
Abominable is filled with good life lessons. Ones like believe in yourself, adventure is out there, and my personal favorite, family is important. It is a movie that will give you all the feels, and I think that families with younger children will really benefit from watching it.
Stunning To Watch
Probably my favorite thing about this movie is that it is truly stunning to watch. The animation is out of this world. There were several moments where I found myself looking at things in the background simply because they were gorgeous to look at. It is amazing to think how far animation has come.
Overall Thoughts
Abominable is extremely predictable, but still a fun ride for the whole family. It is the heartwarming tale of three kids and a yeti (sounds funny, I know). It reminds me a bit of Coco — but not nearly as good. Even with a predictable plot, Abominable is a movie I recommend families with young children watch at least once. Your kids will likely want to watch it over and over, but don’t worry parents, once will be enough for you.
About Abominable
After discovering a Yeti on the roof of her apartment building, teenage Yi and her two friends embark on an epic quest to reunite the magical creature with his family. But to do so, they must stay one step ahead of a wealthy financier and a determined zoologist who want to capture the beast for their own gain.

While watching Abominable, so many quotes stuck in my head. I was curled up with my kiddos and I ended up grabbing a piece of paper and writing some down. Yes, they resonated with me that much.
