Clio: The Best Way To Enjoy Coffee & Espresso

clio coffee brewer

Something you might not know about me is that I am a coffee fanatic. I am obsessed with coffee. I drink at least 4 cups a day and honestly do not think I could survive without it. So when I was asked to try a new single serve coffee brewer, Clio, I was skeptical. I take my coffee seriously. I never expected to be blown away like I was.

My husband has been researching espresso makers for years now. It is something he has always wanted, but we never really settled on one. They are just so expensive. Well, now we don’t need one because the Clio brewer not only makes the best coffee you will ever taste, it also makes espresso!

Clio has oodles of awesome features, but they really boil down to three categories: Quality, Sustainability, and Simplicity. Clio gives you Italian café quality at convenience store price – all from the comfort of your own kitchen. Like I said we are a coffee family — and everyone has been impressed with this brewer.

Quality

Clio is a single-cup high-pressure brewer that draws from European techniques and uses Italian engineering to give you amazing coffee, espresso, and tea at home. It uses high-quality coffee beans from around the world, roasted to perfection in state-of-the-art facilities in Northern Italy.

That means no more watered-down coffee — which is literally my biggest pet peeve. I hate making coffee at home and feeling like I am drinking water. I work A LOT, and I run on coffee. The good stuff. With Clio, I don’t have to sacrifice flavor for convenience — and I love it. Clio pods have 60% more grounds in smaller pods, compared to other brewers, so I get richer flavor in every cup. And its high-pressure brewing process extracts the most flavor from the coffee.

This latte was to die for! Perfectly delicious!

Sustainability

My husband and I also really care about the environment. We always favor recyclable packaging when possible, so that is another reason we love Clio. Their pods are recyclable and use 50% less material to produce than most other single-cup pods. While other manufacturers require used pods to be mailed for processing, Clio pods can be placed with normal household recycling. Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy!

To recycle, simply remove the plastic cover, squeeze to pop out the filter, empty the grounds, and rinse the pod (like you would rinse any recyclable jars and cans). If you are a composter, used coffee grounds are awesome for composting! This is because coffee grounds add nitrogen to your compost pile, which gives plants energy to grow and produce fruit and veggies.

Simplicity

Clio’s subscription service delivers coffee to your door every month, so you never have to worry about running out of coffee. This is a huge plus for me because nothing is worse than opening up our DIY coffee bar drawer and seeing that we are out of coffee. Unfortunately this used to happen quite often because, well honestly I don’t have the best memory when it comes to some things. And I have gone without coffee in my house for days (it isn’t fun guys).

The rapid water heating warms the 48-oz tank in less than a minute — without the grinding gears or noisy motor sounds you hear from other brewers. This means my kids won’t wake up before I get that first cup of coffee inside of me, and I am here for that!

Clio produces a 10-oz cup of full-strength coffee in under 75 seconds! It is calibrated to make coffee, espresso, or tea with a single button — no learning curve needed. My favorite part? The used pods automatically drop into a hidden basket, so you don’t have to empty with each use.

Clio’s 4 coffee blends:

  • Rise & Shine (mild roast): Kick off another day with something elegant and intensely flavorful! If you like dramatic hints of citrus, fruits, Bergamot, and want a crisp finish, this blend’s for you.
  • Smooth Sailing (medium roast): Distinctively flavorful with subtle notes of chocolate, fruit and hazelnut? Yes, please. Add in a sweet caramel taste and you can turn any morning slog into your new favorite time of day.
  • Peak Power (dark roast): Strong Italian accent. Full-bodied aroma. Flavorful finish. Yeah, that sounds good to us. Add in hints of toasted caramel and dark chocolate and your afternoon will never be the same.
  • Evening Delight (decaf): Elegant, mild rose decaf. With notes of hazelnut and light chocolate, it’s full on flavor, not caffeine.

Clio is affordable. Depending on your plan (60 pods/month, 30 pods/month or buy as you go), a delicious cup of Clio coffee ranges from $0.83 to $1.19 per cup.
