Whether you are traveling the states or the world – here are some great tips and items from Mama Smith’s for your travels!

I have always wanted to go to a comic convention. I hate that I never have – I feel like I am not a worthy enough geek/nerd/gamer. But soon that will all change! The Niagara Falls Comic Con is coming to town and with that only being a few hours drive from us – we are heading that way. I am so excited because the lineup is amazing – David Hasselhoff, Sean Aston, Scott Wilson, Billy Dee Williams – it goes on and on. Now, I have to leave somewhat early on June 7th to head to LA (read about that press trip here) but we plan to spend all day Saturday at the convention.

I just had to pop on here and tell you guys the good news! From June 7th to June 9th I will be in LA attending a press event! I am feeling very blessed to have been chosen for this once in a lifetime opportunity. While I am there I will be walking the RED CARPET at the Inside Out premiere (opening in theatres on 6/19) at the El Capitan Theatre! I have been really excited about this movie. It stars a lot of great actors (Bill Hader, Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, etc) and looks so good! I remember seeing the previews when I took my girls to a movie a couple months ago and they are dying to see it!

I am a huge fan of extended rear-facing. And because of this, the Diono Radian RXT is a carseat that I had been looking in to when I was picking out carseats for my daughters. I know I have mentioned it before but my husband is a researcher. He spends hours – no days – no weeks – researching items that he wants to purchase before making a final decision. Ultimately, while we REALLY wanted Dionos, we went with something else because of the price. The issue being that we would need to purchase two. If we were buying just one, it would have been a Diono, no questions asked. I can confidently say that if we had gotten to try a Diono out, we would have purchased them hands down. We love our Diono Rainier (the “updated” version of the Radian RXT) and will be purchasing a second one very soon.

We went to the New York State Fair today! We had a ton of fun! The highlights of the day included the dinosaur exhibit where we saw 15+ “dinosaurs” in their natural habitats and got to dig for dinosaur fossils! We ran into Senator Chick Schumer and Ivy got to shake his hand and a photo with him! My oldest won a Lumpy Space Princess stuffed animal in a game and she was so excited! The fresh milk from the rainbow bar is always amazing and so is the giant sand sculpture! Both girls got to feed animals (goats, a zebra, a camel, an alpaca, and so much more!) and pet them at the petting zoo! They even got to ride a pony. It was a successful day for sure! If you have never been and you live in the area (or even if you don’t!), then you need to check it out some time!

Here in upstate New York one of the biggest attractions of the summer is Harborfest in Oswego. This is only about a 15 minute drive for us and we went last year. We were very excited to go again this year because our youngest is at the age where she will be able to play. We opted just to go to the children’s section. The first thing we did when we got there was let the girls rides horses. They were $5.00 each and they got to ride a “sparkly” horse around for 3 laps in a tiny fenced off area. I suppose it was worth it though because they loved it!
