I love subscription boxes and I love crafts. So the Surprise Ride box is right up my alley! As you all know, I stay at home with my girls so I am always looking for fun things to do with them that also teach them something. My oldest goes to school, but that is only for 2 days a week right now. Surprise Ride sends a box right to your door every month. Each box is themed and full of hands on projects for you and your children.
Do you have an abundance of broken crayons? We did. And my girls avoid broken crayons like the plague! They are always bringing them up to me – my 19 month old saying “Uh oh! Trash!” and my 3 year saying “I cannot use this mommy. It needs to go in the trash.” Sometimes, they break them just for fun. *sigh* The joys of motherhood….
Are you trying to think of a cute way to store photos and daily activities to pass on to your children when they are older? I know some moms keep calendars and write something on each day, and some send emails to an account they have set up for their kids. Here is what I am doing for my girls.
As you all know, I am a huge fan of the environment. Anything we can do to make it a better place is alright in my book (no pun intended here guys!). So, upcycling anything, especially old books, is a really cool concept to me! When I came across EcoCycled on Etsy, I thought what they do is unique and quite frankly, pretty darn awesome. As I have stated before, I love wall art – I love decorating. I contacted EcoCycled and they offered me a print – any print I wanted – to review as well as an amazing giveaway – but we will get to that a little later. It look me a little while to decide. I loved the Cat in the Hat prints because I knew exactly where I would put them (my girls have a little reading corner/area and it was a little bare for my liking). But, the Geek in me was being pulled to the Star Wars (did you know hubby and I went to Star Wars Weekend at Disney World for our honeymoon and MET Jeremy Bulloch – Boba Fett!!) and Harry Potter prints.. I ultimately sided with my love for my girls and chose an adorable Cat in the Hat print with a quote about reading – “You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book. Dr. Seuss”.
Since I stay home with my girls, I try to do fun things that also help them learn every day. We have workbooks, which are great for letters and numbers, but when I discovered the Animal Trackers Club, I thought it would be the perfect addition to our “lessons”. #AnimalTrackersClub is a monthly subscription box for your little pre-reader (ages 3+). Each month will be centered around a different animal and you will receive a fact sheet, magnet, toy, project, mask, tracks card, and worksheets!
Summer is finally here! I love spending this season outside with my girls. This past weekend we got a pool (just the small blowup kind) so we have been playing in that a lot. A couple weeks ago we went to a war reenactment. They had a small tent set up with children’s toys from the early 1800’s. That was really interesting and fun! The women who was running the tent taught me how to make clover flower necklaces, which has quickly become something my girls love to do. We have lots growing in our yard and so I decided to make some today. They are really easy to do and your kids will love them!
My oldest daughter just turned 3 – THREE!! (Where does the time go?!?) Her favorite things right now are Tangled and Frozen. She watches them over and over. She even pointed out Rapunzel in Frozen at Elsa’s Coronation before I noticed her. To say she is obsessed is an understatement. So when I asked her what theme she wanted for her birthday party I was not one bit surprised when she told me Tangled. Below are some fun party ideas if you want to do a Tangled theme. We had a blast!
