The LeapFrog Epic runs on an Android operating system (Android 4.4) – and I could tell the differences immediately. We have 5 (at last count) LeapPads in our house so we are very familiar with them. The Epic runs very quickly (not that the LeapPads are slow – they aren’t – but the Epic moves at lightening speed). With a quad-core processor and brilliant 7″ LCD screen, the LeapFrog Epic tablet delivers seamless performance. The homescreen is interactive where with the LeapPads it is just a photo (which you can customize). Children can bring the town to life using various art styles. One thing that my daughters LOVE about the background is that you can set it to reflect the weather and time in your town. They think it is so fun that it gets dark at night and cloudy when it is cloudy outside. This is a great way for kids to learn more about the weather – my 2.5 year old is starting to really grasp the concept thanks to the Epic. Besides LeapFrog apps, you can also download other LeapFrog approved Android Apps (for example, Fruit Ninja and Doodle Jump – sold separately) for the Epic. This is a brand new feature that my girls and I are taking full advantage of already. LeapFrog ensures there are no harmful third-party ads and only age-appropriate experiences.
For as long as I can remember my husband has wanted a Nest Smart Thermostat. He first saw it on a TV show and immediately started research. Within just a few minutes of this, we knew that we wanted to have a connected, smart home. After even more research, we found out that the best way to do this was with the Nest Smart Thermometer and the Netgear Router (with Geek Squad Protection from Best Buy of course). With this duo we will be able to save money and energy – not to mention we will never come home to a cold house again (and living in upstate NY that is a HUGE positive!).
My daughters both use our tablet religiously – and so do I! I use it for work all the time along with my laptop. Back to school is just around the corner and we all know that includes lots of technology now. Most students’ books are now only available via the cloud meaning tablets are a necessity. I personally think that this is great because I remember how heavy those backpacks got when I was a kid. One brand that I trust for back to school products for my girls is SanDisk. They are a brand I have used for years so I know that they will last and do what they are meant to do. Their flash drives are perfect for that power point presentation or term paper – you won’t ever need to worry that it will just “disappear” (and trust me that has happened to me with other brands before).
Make internet use easy while traveling with the AT&T Unite! This summer my family plans to spend a lot of time traveling. My husband is lucky enough to have every other Friday off so we spend a lot of long weekends doing things like camping, visiting landmarks, and just going on mini adventures. But being a blogger, I am addicted to the internet. I cannot just leave it alone for several days. I would feel like I miss too much. That is where the AT&T Unite comes in real handy.
It is no secret that I am a huge gamer. Don’t get me wrong, I love being home with my girls, but every now and then I could use a “sit by myself and play video games all day” kind of day. I have been looking for a good gaming laptop (that my techie husband would approve of) and I think I may have found it with the new HP Envy Touchscreen – AMD FX-series. This laptop has everything that a hardcore gamer like me and a techie like my husband would want. Let me start off by saying that the TouchSmart touchscreen is 15.6″ – that’s is pretty big! The HP Envy laptop makes multitasking a breeze, which means more time for the family (when I am not caught up in a game of course). It is easy enough for my 3.5 year old to use to play HER games – making it great for family trips and traveling!
I have a tablet but really, the kids have it. I had an unclear moment one day and put a game on it for my daughters. From that moment on it has become their tablet and theirs alone. If they ever seen me on it, they freak out. Some how it is now full of their games and apps and all my books were removed because they took up too much space. My husband and I had been talking about actually getting one for them so I can have mine back – so I was thrilled to be able to review the Kocaso Android 4.4 7inch Quad-Core MX780 tablet – which I think is perfect for kids!
