Tips, tricks, and more to help you prepare for your Disney Cruise!
Have you ever wondered what’s included with a Disney Cruise? There are so many perks that are no additional cost when you book with Disney Cruise Line!
Two years ago my family went on an 7-day Disney Cruise which included the Star Wars Day at Sea. We had so much fun, that we decided to go again this year. We were pleasantly surprised at all of the changes that were made! Because of this, we had a whole new experience on board and we loved it. My daughters especially were really happy to see that there were new things to experience this time around.
If you have been following my blog and social media at all, you know I have been living the low carb and keto lifestyle for about a year now. Yes, I cheat here and there, but I pretty much stay on track. So when my family and I went on a Disney Cruise I knew I had to make keto work for me. It was actually a lot easier than I expected. Sure I had a milkshake or a dessert here and there, but I didn’t binge out on them. And if you wanted to stay strictly keto while onboard, Disney is very accommodating.
If you are a Disney family, I highly recommend taking a Disney Cruise at some point. My family has been on two, so far, and are dying to go on another! Thanks to the Oceaneer Club and Lab, this can feel like a couples getaway as well as a family vacation. There is plenty for Disney fans of all ages to do on board and in port, including things for parents to do while the kids play at the Club. My girls barely wanted to leave – in fact, they fought with us a couple times when we said it was time for dinner.
My family has been on two Disney Cruises now. Going in to the second one, we felt like we knew a little bit more about what we wanted to book. A must have for us was the Disney Junior Breakfast. When we go to Disney World, we always make sure to book the Disney Junior Breakfast as Hollywood Studios. My daughters are 4 and 5 so they actively watch the shows and are huge fans of the characters. They are always excited to meet them, and we knew it would be no different on the cruise.
Last year I went on a Disney Cruise with my daughters and my mom. It was a short 3 days cruise but we had a blast. After talking to my husband about it, we decided to book a 7 day cruise – and we actually did this while I was still on board the Disney Dream. For us, the 3 day was such a tease – we wanted more! So I went in to the 7 day knowing that it would be a ton of fun, but I didn’t know how much I still wouldn’t want to leave after a week out at sea.
I have never run a race in my life. My husband was a runner in high school though, so he is not stranger to them. I have always wanted to do a 5K or 10K – especially with Disney – so I was thrilled to learn about the Castaway Cay 5K that I could run while on my Disney Cruise! As tough as it was, it was actually a blast – and I was so proud of myself after doing it. I finished in 36 minutes, which I think is pretty good considering I was eating cruise food and enjoying wine for 6 solid days before it! I enjoyed it so much that I think I caught the running bug! I am hoping to do a run at Disney World next – perhaps the Princess Run?!?
My husband and I are huge Star Wars fans – we even honeymooned at Disney’s Star Wars Weekend in 2009 and walked out to the Imperial Death March at our wedding. So when we were planning a family cruise, we just knew we had to take advantage of Disney’s Star Wars Day at Sea onboard the Disney Fantasy’s 7 day cruise. Star Wars day actually started the night before, when Captain Phasma showed up unannounced with some Stormtroopers to look for “rebel scum” that were hiding on our ship. That in itself was pretty amazing (and my 5 year old was a bit freaked out) but it only got better from there. There were so many amazing activities throughout the entire day. If you are going on a Disney Cruise that features the Star Wars Day at Sea, here are a few activities that you can’t miss out on!
I took my daughters on a Disney Cruise last August. We loved it so much that we immediately booked (while still on board) another Disney Cruise. We leave next week and I am so excited about it! One thing we did not do for our last cruise but decided we could not miss out on it this time is door decorations. My 5 year old loved walking around the ship and pointing out the different door decorations that we found. She enjoyed reading all of the names on them and looking at pictures that were put up. There are tons of options on Etsy and Amazon, but my girls love being crafty (even though their mama really isn’t). So we went ahead and decided to make our door decorations this time.
