Mario Kart World Review: It Is Absolutely Worth The Price

Mario Kart World is a new game exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. It might seem pricey at first, but it is more than worth the cost. Here’s why. Thank you to Nintendo for sending a copy of the game and a Nintendo Switch 2, so that we could test it.

Mario Kart World Review: It Is Absolutely Worth The Price

As a member of a family of gamers, nothing is more exciting than a co-op game that everyone enjoys. That is what Mario Kart has always been for us and continues to be with the release of Mario Kart World.

One of my favorite things about this game is how updated it feels. Not just with more options, but the look and the gameplay as well. The graphics are incredible, truly making the Nintendo Switch 2 come off as a superior console to its predecessor.

Mario Kart World is more than worth its $80 price tag. Here’s why.

Mario Kart World Offers A Lot For Players To Collect & Explore

The races themselves are updated with multiple new, fun and unique tracks, but more on that later. First, I want to talk about how much this game has evolved since the last version of it. True to its name, Mario Kart World truly feels like players end up immersed in this world.

The Free Roam option literally allows you to zoom around the map, competing in challenges to earn stickers and other prizes, as well as test out your skills. This is not only a great way to get used to the controls, discover secrets, and let the completionist in you thrive, but it actually a whole lot of fun. This is a great addition to the game because it expands what a single player can do in Mario Kart.

Of course, there is the classic battle mode, with the beloved Balloon Battle, but I have been having a lot of fun with Knockout Mode. I need to make sure that my hands are up to the challenge, but racing from course to course with no rest in between is an absolute blast.

More Racers, More Characters, More Skins, More Fun

Previous versions of Mario Kart supported 12 racers. That number has doubled in Mario Kart World, which supports 24 racers. This makes things a bit more chaotic, especially at the start of each race, but also extremely fun.

Not only are there many characters that you can race as, but most of them have different variants to collect. Players do so by picking up what I have been calling happy meals from Yoshi stands and eating the food that they get. Different meals unlock different characters, but each one also gives your car a boost, much like a mushroom.

There are many characters, variants, and vehicles to unlock, providing hours of fun on top of those you will have racing with your family and friends. If you are a fan of Mario Kart, there is no way that you won’t enjoy Mario Kart World.

About Mario Kart World

The whole world is your racetrack in this massive evolution of the Mario Kart™ series! The courses you race on are all connected in a seamless world. Drive the paths between them to traverse mountains, forests, cities, and more. Take in the sprawling vistas as you explore at your own pace in Free Roam—or watch how a sudden shift in the weather can mix up a dead heat in a tense Grand Prix.

Ride on rails, jump off walls, skim across water, and more as you race for the finish line. Master these new maneuvers and you might cut down your time to the finish line!
