Caddo Lake, starring Dylan O’Brien and Eliza Scanlen, is a thought-provoking and twisted mystery that will keep you guessing until the end.
You know those movies that are nearly impossible to speak about without spoiling them in one way or another? That is how I feel about Caddo Lake. There is so much to unpack in this film, that it is hard to expand on simple thoughts.
This movie is fantastic. It is very well done. It boasts incredible actors. And it will keep viewers guessing until the very end. Speaking of which, the end itself will be divisive but I, personally, am a big fan of what they did.
When an eight-year-old girl disappears, a series of events, conversations, and revelations alter a broken family’s history. Eagle-eyed viewers will be able to put some pieces of the puzzle together early on, but I assure you, they actually have no idea what is yet to come.
It does not take long for the first twist to be revealed, which in turn, truly helps keep the film moving along at a decent pace. Thanks to the brilliant writing, directing, and acting, everything comes together beautifully to create something that is sure to be conversation starter for anyone who has seen it.
That said, there are times when Caddo Lake feels like a slow burn, but those are few and far between. And there is always, always a payoff that makes those fleeting moments well worth it.
Both Dylan O’Brien and Eliza Scanlen go on quite the journey throughout the film. Their paths are different, but similar, which will in turn likely cause the audience to look inward and think about what is most important to them.
The reason Caddo Lake works as well as it does is because viewers are going to constantly be trying to figure out what exactly is happening. The film features a pretty big mystery at the center of it, however, we really cannot dive more into that without giving anything away.
Caddo Lake is thrilling, exciting, intriguing, surprising, and exhilarating. There are multiple twists and turns that will keep viewers fully engaged as they put the puzzle pieces together. This is one that will not soon be forgotten – and is likely to be even better upon a second watch.
