Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie is very much a road trip comedy. It is packed with laugh-out-loud moments, silly jokes, and a wild adventure. While it often focuses on Sandy and her family, there is quite a bit of SpongeBob as well. Still, it is nice to see Sandy get her own movie and it is just that — make no mistake, she is the star.

The perfect combination of animation and live action, this film is absolutely gorgeous to look at. When compared to the first season of SpongeBob SquarePants, it is easy to see just how far animation has come. Taking these characters and plopping them right into the real world is something we have seen in previous films, but it looks even better this time around.

The plot itself is simple, but it is entertaining enough to keep the whole family invested through to the end. At just under two hours, Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie is a tad long for younger viewers, but the vibrant colors are sure to help squirmy kids staring at the screen.

This movie is a lot of fun. It is quirky, silly, and a bit over the top at times. SpongeBob SquarePants fans will be thrilled to see Sandy Cheeks get her time to shine. It is funny, packed with action and adventure, and an all around good time for the family.
