During the Deadpool & Wolverine press conference, Hugh Jackman explains that getting to finally put on the iconic yellow and blue suit was one of the highlights of filming for him. He goes on to say that he does not know why that did not happen in 1999, because it is not like those conversations were not there.
So why didn’t the X-Men wear their classic yellow and blue outfits from the comics? Marvel President Kevin Feige weighs in.
Why Didn’t The X-Men Wear Their Classic Yellow & Blue?
“There were studio execs in charge, who knew that The Matrix had been a big hit and The Matrix had black leather, so let’s put them in black leather,” Kevin Feige explains. Deadpool & Wolverine Director and co-writer Shawn Levy shouts that finally we have an answer, after all these years.
I remember walking out there with Ryan [Reynolds] on set, him in the Deadpool costume, me in the yellow and blue. Amongst the crew that had done hundreds of movies and seeing everything, there was just a hush and you could feel that everyone was like, oh, okay, this is a moment that should have happened 24 years ago.
