Sofia Boutella Talks Rebel Moon

Mama’s Geeky: What are you most excited for people to see in Rebel Moon?

Sofia Boutella: There are so many elements for people to discover. I want people to be transported, to have fun, to have a good time, to be entertained, to get their heads out of their lives. And I want people to discover characters that they can hopefully relate to. And I want them to just have a good time.

Stuart Martin Talks Rebel Moon

Mama’s Geeky: What are you most excited for people to see in Rebel Moon?

Stuart Martin: Oh, the set pieces. The big, beautiful worlds that Zack has created, right from that opening. And then these multiple worlds that he’s made, there’s so many of them, and they’re all so clearly defined. They’re beautiful. I’m excited to see again. I’ve seen it a couple of times. And I’m just like, I want to see those worlds again.

Mama’s Geeky: What is it like working with Zack Snyder?

Stuart Martin: He’s amazing. I saw 300 when I was living in Scotland at college, and I was like, “What is this? I’ve never seen anything like it.” And all these years later, to get to work with him a couple of times, and spend five months with him on set, and to train with him in his gym. I mean, he’s just cool gent. He’s down there with you in the trenches, because he’s got his camera because he’s DOP and operating, and between takes you just chat and blather about life. He’s phenomenal. He’s phenomenal.

Mama’s Geeky: So it’s still “pinch me” moments?

Stuart Martin: He’s this amazing Captain, where he’s never tired. Never gets grumpy. So that bleeds down. It means that no one can be tired, and no one can be grumpy. And he’s probably in the gym at 5am or 4am, before we come into work. He’s phenomenal. I love him.

Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire comes to Netflix December 22.

About Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire

After crash landing on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a stranger with a mysterious past, begins a new life among a peaceful settlement of farmers. But she soon becomes their only hope for survival when the tyrannical Regent Balisarius (Fra Fee) and his cruel emissary, Admiral Noble (Ed Skrein), discover the farmers have unwittingly sold their crops to the Bloodaxes (Cleopatra Coleman and Ray Fisher) — leaders of a fierce group of insurgents hunted by the Motherworld.

Tasked with finding fighters who would risk their lives to defend the people of Veldt, Kora and Gunnar (Michiel Huisman), a tenderhearted farmer naive in the realities of war, journey to different worlds in search of the Bloodaxes, and assemble a small band of warriors who share a common need for redemption along the way: Kai (Charlie Hunnam), a pilot and gun for hire; General Titus (Djimon Hounsou), a legendary commander; Nemesis (Doona Bae), a master swordswoman; Tarak (Staz Nair), a captive with a regal past; and Milius (E. Duffy), a resistance fighter.

Back on Veldt, Jimmy (voiced by Anthony Hopkins), an ancient mechanized protector hiding in the wings, awakens with a new purpose. But the newly formed revolutionaries must learn to trust each other and fight as one before the armies of the Motherworld come to destroy them all.

Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire comes to Netflix December 22.
