Omni-Man is joining the playable characters in Mortal Kombat 1. Invincible producer Simon Racioppa, he reveals how excited he is in this interview.
Omni-Man will be the first playable character in Mortal Kombat’s Kombat Pack 1 and will be available as a standalone fighter or as part of the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition. Other DLC characters set to come out as part of Kombat 1 are Quan Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac, Homelander, and Takeda.
The character’s release window was confirmed to be November 2023 during the New York Comic-Con reveal, but the Xbox Store’s listing for Mortal Kombat 1 has narrowed down the window. A message above the Kombat Pack button reads, “Purchase the Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack now and get ready for Omni-Man early release on 11/6.”
We spoke with Invincible Producer Simon Racioppa about the upcoming season 2 part 1, but we were sure to ask about Omni-Man joining Mortal Kombat 1. As expected, he is very excited about it.
Invincible Producer Comments On Omni-Man In Mortal Kombat
“Oh my god, it’s incredible. Are you kidding?” Simon exclaims. “That trailer they cut is phenomenal.” He goes on to explain that what the team behind Invincible tries to deliver for the fans, is to show that they love the source material, the comics, just as much as their audience does.
“So, you’re a big superhero fan, so are we. And we want to respect that,” he says. “It felt like that was the same relationship with another row roles and Netherworlds and the Mortal Kombat team, because they took so many moves from the show.”
Just looking at the reveal trailer for Omni-Man joining Mortal Kombat 1, it is clear that they took inspiration from the show. “He grabs him by the spine in one of the shots and it’s just like how Omni-Man kills Donald in the show.”
Simon says it looks great, as well. “Their Omni-Man is awesome, and the sound, and obviously JK Simmons came back to do the voice. So to me, it was a delight.”
Simon Racioppa wraps up his thoughts by saying, “Those guys did such a fantastic job. I’m so happy. I can’t wait to play it.”
