Upload star Robbie Amell shares an exciting Upload Season 3 update during an exclusive interview with Mama’s Geeky.
Robbie Amell Shares Upload Season 3 Update
Prime Video’s Upload season 2 ended on quite the cliffhanger. I know I have been sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for season 3 to come along, and thankfully that date seems to be fast approaching.
During an interview with Mama’s Geeky for his new film Simulant, Robbie Amell jokes that he has cornered the market on characters who die and come back as some form of artificial intelligence. This was the perfect lead-in to talk about one of my favorite Sci-Fi series, Upload.
Upload Season 3 has been confirmed, but Robbie just let us know that it is completed, which means hopefully it is coming soon.
Robbie explains that he was supposed to go watch the finished Upload season 3 in Los Angeles at creator Greg Daniel‘s house in a few weeks, but he’s in Vancouver for another project. He has to miss the screening with the cast, which he says is a bummer. That being said, he has gone in for some ADR (Additional Dialog Replacement) and admits that everything he has seen so far has been really cool.
“This season is really funny and super weird and way, way out there. There’s two of me, which was a trip to shoot. I’m shooting opposite somebody who just looks like me from behind and then I’m shooting opposite nothing. And then I’m shooting opposite a green thing. It was crazy. I think it’ll come out this Fall. I’m really excited for this season. I think it’s really cool,” Robbie details.
Combining these details with knowing how season 2 ended has me very excited for what is to come.
Robbie goes on to talk about what a genius Greg Daniels is, something we can all agree with. The man has given us The Office, Parks and Recreation, King of the Hill, and the very underrated Space Force.
Robbie Amell reveals that the whole process to finish a season takes a little less than a year and a half, between writing and shooting. “In that year and four or five months, it’s such a bummer, because sometimes some of the stuff that’s in the show first happens in real life. And we’re like, Greg knew somehow. He’s unreal.”
So if you are watching an episode and think that Greg just copied events that happened in real life, think again. He just predicted they would happen, or at least thought they would work really well as a part of his story.
When it comes to the projects he has done messing with his head a little bit, he confesses that Upload has had a little bit of an impact on him. “I have a Tesla and it took me a long time to use auto-drive because I was like, my character died doing this. I just feel like it’s a bad move.” I personally don’t feel comfortable knowing that Robbie is allowing his Tesla to drive for him after watching Upload, so I don’t blame him for taking his time.
Upload Season 3 should be coming to Prime Video by Fall 2023, so if you haven’t already, now is the perfect time to catch up on the episodes. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this one.
UPDATE: The eight-episode Upload season 3 will premiere October 20, with two episodes releasing every Friday
