How Will Doctor Doom Be Used In The MCU?
At San Diego Comic Con, Marvel President Kevin Feige announced the MCU Phase 5 and Phase 6 slate, which includes Avengers: Secret Wars. So the big question is, how will Doctor Doom be used in the MCU?
While we do not yet have casting for Doctor Doom and the Fantastic Four, we know that they have a lot to do with Secret Wars in the comic books. The basic story is between Reed Richards and Doctor Doom. With the introduction with the Fantastic Four coming soon in the MCU it might not seem like a problem, but it should be noted that they are only being introduced a year before Secret Wars.
This puts Avengers: Secret Wars in a tough spot, especially after Kevin Feige keeps saying that Kang the Conqueror will be THE big bad oh this saga and the next Thanos level villain.
Does this mean that Doctor Doom won’t ever actually end up being a big bad but rather the first reoccurring villain in the MCU? It is heavily rumored that not only will there be a Fantastic Four trilogy but that Doom will show up in a MCU Phase 4 project. This already sets him up as being one of the first reoccurring villains. The easiest way to go about making Secret Wars work, is just character swaps.
Here is our theory.
The MCU could character swap Doctor Doom and Kang — keeping Kang as the main villain of this entire saga while also setting up Doom for the future of the MCU. He could easily be a big bad for the Fantastic Four come the end of their trilogy. If this comes true it would be great for the development for the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom’s relationship. They would realize that they need to come together and defeat this larger threat.
It is rumored that Doom will also be getting his own solo project, whether it is a show or movie we don’t know, but we do know that something is in development. There are 8 project spots between Fantastic Four and Avengers: Secret War which means he could have a solo project, maybe him conquering/building his own empire, but still yet to face off against the Fantastic Four. An easy way to get make him easy to worth with for the heroes would be for him to pretend he is good. Not taking over kingdoms but rather saving the people from evil rulers.
All of this of course depends on the course of action between Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars but there is no possible way they can flesh out the relationship between Doom and Reed Richards in one year of projects. The best idea would be to character swap Doctor Doom and Kang. Again, this would allow for more development for Doom and Reed, and still keep Kang as the main big bad for the MCU’s Multiverse Saga.
