During the press conference for Light & Magic Ron Howard says he is never surprised by his daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard.
During the press conference following the Light & Magic panel at Star Wars Celebration 2022 Ron Howard was asked about the first time he saw The Mandalorian episode that Bryce Dallas Howard, his daughter, had directed. During the panel when she was mentioned, the crowd erupted, to which Ron replied that made him a proud father, so it was only natural that he was asked about her work.
He said that the responses to that episode made him very happy for her. The bosses were happy and the fans were happy. Before the episode had even aired, Ron claims he got a wink and nod from Jon Favreau that she did great.
Ron Howard explains that Bryce went to NYU and was an acting major there. She directed plays during her time there and he had seen her directing before. He has known for a while it was something she really wanted to do.
“She never surprises me when she succeeds. I felt comfortable with her getting into the business because at a certain point, when she was in high school, I could see her ambition for the work. For the process. She loved getting into work with Jon and Dave Filoni. She’s learning a lot. She’s growing a lot and she can feel it. She understands the face that really is for the fans. It really is to try to connect with the audience. There’s a respect for that audience.” – Ron Howard
Fans absolutely love Bryce Dallas Howard’s work on The Mandalorian, so fingers crossed she will get to continue directing in the Star Wars universe.
