Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore is the third in the movie series and it brings incredible action, adorable beasts, and a whole lot of heart. Eddie Redmayne reprises his role as the lovable Newt Scamander, who is certainly quirky, but also has an undeniable presence about him. Fans will be thrilled to see him on screen again, this time fighting alongside Dumbledore against Grindelwald.

Eddie Redmayne On What He’s Learned From Newt Scamander

During the Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore press conference, Mama’s Geeky asks him what he has personally learned from playing Newt. Over the course of the films, it seems that Newt has learned a lot himself, and truly branched out.

His response, after smiling and saying it is a lovely question, is truly inspiring and earnest. He first and foremost states that he adores Newt (us too, Eddie) and that he loves many things about him, including his empathy and that he always looks for the good in people. “He is very happy in his own company and in the company of creatures.”, Eddie explains before talking about how Newt enjoys silence, but Eddie himself, with his anxiety, will fill silence with too many words.

“There are some things that he has said which I now try and live by. One is that worrying means you suffer twice — which was in the first movie. I am a great worrier and I always tell myself if the horrendous thing is going to happen, there is no sense worrying about it, it’s going to happen anyway and then you’ve just doubled your pain. And there’s something he says to Dumbledore in this piece which I adore – we all make mistakes in life but you can try and make things better. It’s the trying that counts.” – Eddie Redmayne

The latter sticks with Eddie because he loves that Newt feels that it is the trying to make things better that counts. It is safe to say that Newt Scamander has captured a lot of hearts around the world, and we can add Eddie Redmayne to that list.
