Last Night In Soho Ending Explained

Throughout the majority of the film, viewers are led to believe that Sandie was murdered by Jack. There are many hints to this, but specifically the scene where Eloise sees her being killed in one of her visions. This scene is very intense. There is blood flying everywhere and an understandably freaked out Eloise.

However, a massive twist takes place when Eloise is in the room she is renting from Ms. Collins later on. Many faceless men are surrounding her and reaching out for her. At first she thinks they are trying to attack her, but they are actually asking for help.

Sandie snapped after being treated so poorly by men that she decided to kill them all. What Eloise witnessed was actually the murder of Jack. That was only the beginning as Sandie went on murder all of the Johns who she was sleeping with, and left the bodies in her walls.

Terence Stamp is thought to be an older Jack, but this is not true. He is a police officer that tried to help Sandie when she started sleeping with men. In one of the visions we see him say she is better than this, and he references this to Eloise at the bar she works at. Of course, he is a little off and creepy whenever we see him, so it is easy to think he is, in fact, Jack.

It isn’t until he is hit by a car and killed in front of Eloise that she discovers his true identity.

Eloise realizes that the old lady she is renting the house from, Ms. Collins, is indeed Sandie. Her real name was spoken once at the beginning on the film and when Eloise sees it on an envelope in her apartment is when she puts it all together. Sandie was not murdered at all, but is the murderer herself.

The focus of the movie changes here, and while it crosses from thriller to horror, it also becomes quite heartbreaking. The fact that Sandie felt so pushed into a corner after being forced to do these things that she resorted to murder is sad. Of course, she didn’t have to go that far, but the effect is still felt.

The many missing men was also mentioned in the movie in passing. The writing and direction are very careful to avoid these things being at the forefront of the film so that the suspense is built and the audience misled. Allowing for a truly shocking twist. The fact that Ms. Collins does not like men in the house is another hint at her true identity.

In the end, the older Sandie tries to kill Eloise, before deciding to let her go and finally atone for her sins. As the house is burning down she sits in the room where she hid all those bodies, and perishes with them.

An intense movie that is part thriller, part horror, and all brilliant. The entire third act is a surprise and will leave you shook. Joy & McKenzie are completely captivating.
