Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 7 Episode One Review

Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. final season, season 7, premiere aired last night. What a great start to what will hopefully be a good ending to a good series.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is finally back! That’s right the seventh, and final season, started last night. Admittedly, I go back and forth on this show. You all know that I am a massive Marvel fan. However, I was not a fan of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from the beginning. It wasn’t until season 4 was about to air that I finally gave in and powered through the first few episodes. Then, I was hooked.

Unfortunately, life happened during season 6 and I was traveling so much that I fell behind. Eventually I caught up, just in time for season 7 to start. I have my fingers crossed that this season will be a fitting end for a great show. The first episode is promising, in my opinion. So let’s hope it stays that way.

Season 7 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has a very short description if you look it up. I suppose that is to keep things for the finale as tight as possible. This is what you will find: Coulson and the agents are thrust back in time and stranded in 1931 New York City. The team must find out what happened.

Of course, Fitz and Simmons are separated. Like always. As huge fans of their love and chemistry, I am truly getting tired of them spending an entire season fighting to be together. I hope this separation only lasts another episode or two, and then we actually see them together for the rest of season 7. Although I won’t hold my breath for it.

Favorite Moments from Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Season 7 Episode One

Despite that, there are a lot of things I really enjoyed about season 7, episode one of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Patton Oswalt returns, which had been teased on twitter and in trailers. He was one of my favorite characters in previous seasons, and this time, I think I am going to love him as well. Patton plays a different role, and he has a mustache, so it is a win win.

The most touching moment of the episode happens between FDR (yes, THAT FCR) and Coulson. I don’t want to get into major spoilers here but I may or may not have teared up when they shake hands. The look on Coulson’s face, was priceless. Just… priceless.

We all know Quake is a badass. There is no question about it. But one line that she muttered to someone who “was waiting for this fight” would push any doubts someone might have out of their head. Her response? “Sorry but this is just another fight for me.” And the way she delivered it too… man, I love that girl.

There is also a Hydra tie in that is setting up the season for what I think will be a great ending to a series. Again, I don’t want to give anything away, but know it completely shocked me, and I am totally here for it.

We are left with a cliffhanger at the end of the episode — something that Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. is really good at doing. It does have me coming up with all sorts of scenarios in my head and eagerly awaiting the next episode, so I would say it did its job.
