A huge thank you to Disney for providing me with tickets to attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2019 with my family! We had a great time! All opinions expressed are 100% my own.
My family and I have been to five Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party events in a row now, and one thing we love is how much it changes for those that keep coming back. Of course, it remains the same overall – trick or treating (with free candy!), shorter lines for rides (and fun overlays!), an amazing parade, a fantastic show, phenomenal fireworks, delicious snacks, and rare meet and greets — but there are changes to each year that we really appreciate.
DescenDANCE Party
This was HANDS DOWN my 6 year old’s favorite new addition to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! She is OBSESSED with Decendants so having the opportunity to dance along to songs she knows by heart, with a group of like minded kids, was a dream come true. The Villain Kids even stop by (via video) to sing along!
Of course, the event is hosted by other kids from the Isle of the Lost — and they are in true character. I saw a child dressed as Carlos that was too shy to join in the fun, until a cast member came over and told him how honored he was to meet Carlos, and that he could attend the DescenDANCE party! After that, the child let loose!
This party can be found at Cosmic Ray’s. There is also a Disney Junior dance party at the Storybook Circus!
New Snacks
What would a special Disney holiday party be without food? This year there are some delicious additions to the menu, and some returning fan favorites! I tried several, but which one would I eat over and over? Definitely Constance’s For Better of For Worse Wedding Cake. This probably has a lot to do with my love for The Haunted Mansion — and also my love for cake.

The Jack Push Pop is back — and this time he brought Sally along with him! She is made out of a gluten free vanilla cake, buttercream, and strawberry crispies. And yes she was actually DELICIOUS. I am going to be totally honest here and say that I had no idea she was gluten free until after I had eaten her.
Ride OverLays
Something that my kids really love about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is the ride overlays! My husband and I find them quite fun as well. This year our favorite is still there — Space Mountain in COMPLETE darkness! The Mad Tea Party has strobe lighting and fog effects again as well.
There were a couple of additional overlays as well. The first is Pirates of the Caribbean, and while this is VERY similar, things did change a bit this year (at least for us). In the past there have been two “real” pirates enhancing guest experiences. However this time there were several – before and during the ride!
Another cool NEW for 2019 addition was the Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor! This year, as guests trick or treat through the attraction, the laugh floor is open continuously. Sit for as little, or as long, as you like and enjoy the comedy! TIP: This is a great place to get a LOT of candy as you are given some before entering, as well as when you leave.
New Fireworks Show
The new fireworks show is hosted by Jack Skellington, so you KNOW that was something I had to stop and watch!
During a frightfully fun fireworks display, Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy are spirited away to a mysterious haunted house where they encounter dancing skeletons, waltzing ghosts and a sinister gathering of Disney villains!
Don’t miss this dazzling spectacular featuring state-of-the-art projection effects, lasers, light and fireworks during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party—offered select nights August 16 through November 1, 2019.
