Rocketman Is Not Your Typical Biopic…And It Works Perfectly

rocketman review

When Rocketman came to theaters, my husband and I really wanted to go see it. But of course, we never found the time and were unable to go. Now that it is available to take home, I was thrilled to get a copy (Thanks Paramount!). I am so thankful we finally got to watch this movie because WOW, it is amazing

Not Just A Biopic

When I say Rocketman is not your typical biopic, I mean it is not your typical biopic. A mix of real life events and fantasy — and trust me when I say, it works perfectly.

I had so much fun watching this movie – more fun that I have had in a while. And not just me. My husband did too! My daughters came in the room a few times because they loved the music, and started dancing around. Although I will say this is not a movie for young kids.

Try Not To Sing Along

If you know Sir Elton John’s music, you know that it will be pretty impossible not to sing along. I might not know all the words, but I tried to sing them as I watched this movie. The music is just incredible, and works really well in the film. I loved the combination of fantasy in the scenes while the songs were featured. Dare I say it was pure perfection?

I’ve had Elton John songs stuck in my head for DAYS. And I don’t mind it.

That Acting Though….

Like I said before, I never really watched anything with Taron Egerton in it before. But I will now. Man can that guy act! He was phenomenal. There were several times that I totally forgot I was not watch Sir Elton John perform. Honestly. He was just amazing.

I feel like he was born for this role, but from what I have heard, he is pretty amazing in everything he is in. Next up on my list is Kingsman…

Overall Thoughts

Rocketman is just SO MUCH FUN. This movie will have you dancing, it will have you crying, it will have you singing along. It brings you ALL the feels, and is worth watching time and time again!

The movie as a whole is visually stunning to watch as well. I was glued to the screen and the two hour run time FLEW by. I enjoyed all of the music, the acting, and the energy that this film puts out. Easily a five out of five in my book.
