2019’s Pet Sematary is a Film Every Horror Fan Will Love

pet sematary review

I am a big fan of horror movies and books, especially anything from Stephen King, so when the 2019 Pet Sematary came out I knew I had to watch it. Way back when I remember watching the original, and I remember it terrifying me. Honestly, I blocked some of it out because it scared me so much. That was one of the few Stephen King books I could never finish because of how freaked out I was getting. But this version of the movie was really great!

The Story

The story itself is similar to the first one, from what I can recall, however the daughter dies instead of the son. They gave that away in the trailer which is a tad annoying, but I still enjoyed the suspense as to when it was going to happen. I thought the entire cast did a fantastic job, and I was glued to the screen the whole time, even though I had a general sense as to what was going to happen.

The Gore

One of the reasons I love horrors so much is that I really love gore. Gross, I know. And this movie was full of it. There were so many moments that were just down right disgusting — starting off with the boy whose head is smashed in and you can see his brain. Yea, that was pretty cool.

If you don’t like gore, I recommend staying away from this film as there is a lot of it. If you love it like me — enjoy!

That Ending…..

I don’t remember the ending being quite like that in the original. I had to actually look it up to refresh my memory. And I was right. They changed it. At first I was like WHAT! WHY DID THIS HAPPEN! But then… the more I thought about it… I kind of love it. It is pretty perfect. And for someone like me who is all about the horror stuff, it was pretty awesome.

Overall Thoughts

if you are in to horror movies, you will love Pet Sematary. And don’t worry, if you haven’t seen the original, that is fine, you don’t need to. In fact, you might be better off not knowing anything really about the story. Of course the trailer gives away a lot of the details, but man this one is worth a watch. And if you want a shocking ending, Pet Sematary has it for you!

There were even some parts that I teared up during — I am a mom after all. The 2019 version of Pet Sematary is enough like the original, and enough of it’s own thing, to make it more than worth a watch for horror fans!
