Spider-Man: Far From Home is filled with laughter, action, and FUN. So when choosing my 10 most emotional moments (which is something I love to do), it was a different process than Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War. These moments evoke different emotions than pure heartbreak and sadness (which is basically all I got from those Avengers films (that I love so much).
Now honestly, this entire film is full of emotion – any film is really, isn’t it? But these are the moments that made me cry the hardest, laugh the hardest, and cheer the hardest. One of two even made me literally say “awwwww”.
I hope you enjoy my list of emotional moments in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but we warned, if you have not seen the movie yet, they do contain massive spoilers.
Warning: Spoilers ahead for Spider-Man: Far From Home.
The Tribute Video
Spider-Man: Far From Home kicks off with a (obviously high school student made) tribute video to the fallen Avengers. We see Iron Man, Black Widow, and even Captain America. While it was a power point, badly edited, with cheesy music and transitions, it pulled at my heart a little.
Yes, I teared up (are you surprised?) as I realized this is a post Iron Man world. A post tragedy world. Hearing how the kids are dealing with it was interesting. It was a great way to start the movie, and definitely had me in my feels. If you don’t consider it one of the most emotional moments in Spider-Man: Far From Home, there is something wrong with you. Just sayin’.
Spider-Man Fields Questions About Tony Stark
When Spider-Man is in front of all those cameras and microphones and the reporters are asking him about Iron Man, it broke my heart a little. Peter is a KID and it mourning. He is dealing with the loss of a father figure, which is hard. That was tough to watch.
And then when he swung away and was up on the roof, looking over at the mural of Iron Man, that stung a little. I really felt for Peter in that moment.
Ned and Betty
The short romance between Ned and Betty Brant is one of my favorite parts of the movie. They were so cute together. It reminded me of High School relationships that I had. Cute pet names for each other, being attached at the hip…I kind of loved it. And I really enjoyed seeing more of Betty because I love her character. Everything surrounding them was fun.
Peter Almost Kills Brad
Peter has control of insane Stark Technology – and he wants to protect how MJ might feel about him. That in the hands of an emotional teenager, well, it is dangerous. And the part where he almost kills Brad by ordering a kill strike with a drone had me dying. I was laughing so hard. That whole scene was hilarious – from Brad finding him in the bathroom with his pants down, to him distracting the class so he could take care of the drone.
Is being in awe an emotion? Because if so this might be the top emotional moment for me. The way that Sony handled Mysterio’s Illusions was AMAZING! I was staring at the screen and loving every second of it. A lot of people write Mysterio off as a lame villain. But he isn’t. He is dangerous. And there is a lot of reason to fear him. When you don’t know what is real and what isn’t – things can get pretty crazy. Both these full on illusion scenes were fantastic.
Peter Gives EDITH to Mysterio
This part is easily one of the most emotional moments in Spider-Man: Far From Home because it made me SO MAD! How could Peter be so fooled by someone?! He clearly wasn’t thinking straight. And his “Peter tingle” was all messed up – so I guess I can forgive him. But this really drove me crazy when he handed over all that technology, all that power, to Mysterio. UGH! I could have thrown my popcorn at the screen!
Happy Watching Peter Build A Suit
When Happy and Peter were discussing how much they miss Tony, that hurt. A lot. And I cried. A lot. And then, the moment somehow made me smile from ear to ear. As Peter was being super smart Peter Parker, and building himself a new Spider-Man suit using Stark Tech – and Happy was just watching him. Smiling. That hit me right in the gut. Right in the feels.
I loved seeing Happy be….happy. He deserves it. He has had a rough few months too. And he is mourning his best friend. I love seeing him step up as a father figure to Peter in Far From Home.
Peter and MJ Kiss
You have no heart if this moment didn’t make you go “awwwww” and “finally!”. I love these two. I know she is not MJ from the comics and I am OK with that. Honestly, that might be the reason I really like her. She knows Peter is Spider-Man, and she still wants to be with him. It will be a struggle, of course, but I look forward to seeing their future.
The next two moments dive in to the mid and end credit scenes of Spider-Man: Far From Home. I already wrote about what these could mean for the future of the MCU, but I could not knock them off my list of emotional moments because these were my top two. My jaw hit the floor. During both.
Peter’s Identity is Revealed
I was expecting a hint at what was next during the mid credit scene for Spider-Man: Far From Home of course – but I was not expecting this. At all. Mysterio, even through death (maybe), was able to reveal Peter’s identity to the world. And not only that, he told everyone that Spider-Man is the bad guy.
Is this easy to push to the side and move past. Not really. The bad guy thing, maybe, but his secret identity? Not by a long shot. I am so interested to see where the MCU goes now. In the moment of the reveal I was mad at Mysterio, shocked to my core, and just…stunned. So many emotions in one split second.
ALL THE SKRULLS!
That final credit scene where we not only realize that Nick Fury and Maria Hill were Skrulls THE ENTIRE MOVIE – but that there are a BUNCH of Skrulls. Hanging out on a ship. With NICK FURY. That blew my mind. I knew that Nick and Maria had seemed off the entire film, but for the the fact that there are a lot of Skrulls still hanging out with SHIELD means… maybe… Secret Invasion? SWORD? Either way, these are my favorite alien species and I am HYPED!
Do you have a different set of emotional moments in Spider-Man: Far From Home? There are so many more, and trust me, it was hard to narrow my list down to my top 10. Let me know in the comments what had you laughing, crying, and cheering!
