Always Be My Maybe Spoiler Free Review

After seeing the trailer for Always Be My Maybe on Netflix, I was really excited to watch it. It looked like it was going to really funny – and parts of it were. But did I love it? No. Did I like it? Sort off…. Overall it really dragged for me, and while the Keanu Reeves cameo was by far the best part, the rest fell kind of flat.

    The Humor

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy potty humor as much as the next person, but a lot of the humor in this movie fell flat for me. I was looking for a really good Rom Com and got a “meh” one. Several of the jokes had me rolling my eyes – take that banana one for example – it seemed to go on too long and just was not funny, in my opinion.

    It Dragged

Honestly I felt like I was watching this movie for much longer than I actually was. There were several times that I found myself checking my watch – which is never a good sign. The movie is just under two hours, but it felt like at least three. The beginning was cute, the middle dragged, and the end was just – predictable.

    Keanu Reeves Cameo

By far the best part of the entire movie was Keanu Reeves’ cameo. He was in it for about 20 minutes – most of which I found myself cracking up during. There were moments when he was clearly making fun of himself – and I loved them. I wish there was more of him in Always Be My Maybe because then maybe it would have been better.

The end credit song, which sort of featured him too, was another part I really enjoyed. Definitely watch the credits so you don’t miss it.

    Overall Thoughts

Is Always Be My Maybe worth a watch? Sure. But don’t expect anything more than a predictable, sometimes funny, sometimes lame, romantic comedy. You will chuckle here and there, but don’t plan on laughing until you have tears in your eyes. It is cute. But nothing special.

    Synopsis

Childhood sweethearts have a falling out and don’t speak for 15 years, only reconnecting as adults when Sasha runs into Marcus in San Francisco. Although the old sparks are still there, the couple live in different worlds.

Always Be My Maybe is available on Netflix now.
