It has been rumored for a while now that Robert Pattinson was going to be the new Batman, but I honestly didn’t take it seriously.
He truly does not strike me as a good casting for the role, but here we are. It is apparently official now that Robert Pattinson will indeed become the Dark Knight, and I guess I have to get used to the idea.
Batman is a Favorite of Mine
You might now know this about me already, but when it comes to anything and everything DC, I am all about Gotham. I love the dark and gritty – Batman, Catwoman, Poison Ivy (I named my daughter Ivy after her, actually), Harley Quinn, Joker (will this tie in to Joaquin Pheonix’s Joker? One can only hope), and so on.
So you know I am going to be extremely picky about this. I was not a fan of Ben Affleck as Batman, at all. Something about his performance just constantly annoyed me. And I didn’t think he made a good Bruce Wayne – although his Batman was OK (yes only OK – that voice was awful).
But can Robert do a better job? I am honestly not sure. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Twilight Series (I know I am in the minority here), and think he is amazing as Edward – but Batman?
I hold this caped crusader in very high regard, and I just do not see it. I truly hope I am wrong, and that he can pull it off. If I think about it hard enough, I can totally see him as Bruce Wayne, I am just not sure he can get the Batman part right.
Which was something that irked me about actors who have played Spider-Man in the past. They just couldn’t pull off BOTH Peter Parker and Spider-Man (until Tom Holland came around).
For me, Keaton was the best Batman, closely followed by Bale.
Is it Officially Official?
Even with several news sources reporting it, some state it is not officially done yet – but that Robert is at the top of the list (followed by Nicholas Holt which honestly, THAT I could get behind…) and ready to sign the papers. So who can say for sure. I have a feeling I better get used to this idea though.
The Batman is set to hit theaters in June of 2021, and I imagine it will start filming soon to hit that date. This means Director Matt Reeves will need to lock in his hero soon. Especially since we know that Ben Affleck is out (something I am excited about, for real).
While I am not overly excited about Pattinson being cast, I am cautiously optimistic. Because I love Batman. And I want to see him be awesome again. Fingers crossed for a great script, a decent plot, and a Batman I can love.

In my opinion, Josh Hartnett would make a great Batman! He is good & strong looking and is 40 years old now bringing a more mature face to the screen. I know a lot of people who loved the Twilight saga and Edward! Robert brought a certain dark sexy appeal to the screen! Plus great chemistry between him and Kristen Stewart. Who, personally, I think she should have not been casted as Bella!! Robert must have did an excellent audition or I don’t think they would have casted him! I’m ready and so excited to see this movie ? This definitely was pin worthy! Thanks for sharing this priceless piece of information ?
