As part of the LeapFrog Mom Squad, I was lucky enough to receive the brand new LeapFrog LeapStart a couple of weeks before it hits stores (July 14, 2016) – and my girls were super excited to test it out (Ok, I was too!). I could tell right away that this was going to be an incredible learning tool for them. My oldest starts Kindergarten next year, and my youngest will not start Preschool until September 2017. They are both very smart girls (although I am a bit bias) because we work on their skills consistently at home. Every day we have “work book” time and boy was I thrilled to be able to add LeapStart in to that time!

We all immediately loved this interactive learning system. It is more fun for them than going through a work book with mom – and it is easier on me too. One of my favorite things about this system, is that the books come with rewards pages and stickers in the back. As a child “beats” a game, they are told that they earned a sticker and to place one in their rewards section. This helped my girls strive to get the top score. I can honestly say that they have no idea they are learning while they are using this. They have actually been asking to use it during play time – and how can I say no! My girls skills in math, science, and reading have already improved. I can honestly say that I was surprised by how much they learned so quickly.

There are four levels of activity books for LeapStart:

  • Level 1 – Preschool: Teaches ABCs, counting, problem solving, creativity, as well as health, shapes, colors and music.
  • Level 2 – Pre-Kindergarten: Introduces reading, writing, early math, and school routines as well as teamwork, communication and social skills.
  • Level 3 – Kindergarten: Introduces phonics, addition, subtraction and global awareness as well as animals, conservation, logic and reasoning.
  • Level 4 – 1st Grade: Teaches vocabulary and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math), plus problem solving and communication.

Leapfrog LeapStart

We have 9 of the available 16 activity books and all of them are great! My 3 year old does great with the Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, and even the Kindergarten – although, I admit, the 1st Grade books are much too difficult for her. My 5 year old breezes through the Preschool books and does well with the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten books. The 1st Grade books are a little tough for her – but she is quickly learning and starting to do well with them. She is like her mama and loves a challenge – as she often picks up these books first when it is her turn with the LeapStart system. When asked what their favorite book was, both of my girls yelled “All of them!”. I think it is safe to say that LeapStart is a hit with the Smith family!

The LeapStart interactive early learning systems include a portable kid-tough device with an easy-grip stylus, sampler book, and a downloadable Guide to Getting Kids Ready for School. At a price point of just $39.99, there is no reason not to pick up a LeapStart for your little one! • We have both and I honestly prefer this for my 3 year old. It is helping with her hand eye coordination - and cuts down on screen time too! You can read my platinum review here - https://mamasgeeky.com/2015/09/leapfrog-leappad-platinum-imagicards-leapbacktoschool-leapfrogmom-leapfrog-imagicard.html
      • Thank you so much. I did read your post after my comment. I did buy the device on prime day. And she already knew all the colors, shapes and some alphabets and numbers. And her grandmom did like the leapfrog products and think she would enjoy it(she is a teacher, haha). We just want to make sure get the best deal and you are the only one on the web that talked about it in US. I did find a lady in UK talking about this system. Hope she will win some books from your giveway, thank you so much again.
