The Moodsters Flashlight

There’s something about those moments just before naptime and bedtime that can be so special with a preschooler. They offer a sweet opportunity to hear what’s on your child’s mind: their imaginings, their concerns, their silly jokes. This is also a great time to talk with your child about emotions: While they’re feeling comfy and safe, you can ask them gentle questions about feelings, and hear in their own words what they’re feeling inside. And in a darkened room, The Moodsters can shine a light on feelings in a whole new way!

With The Moodsters Feelings Flashlight, your child can turn the dial to the Moodster who represents the emotion they’re feeling at that very moment, push the Power Up button, and project an image of that character on the wall or ceiling. Hear the Moodsters talk about feelings and impart simple strategies to manage their emotions. Or read the accompanying storybook together, The Scary Sleepover, where The Moodsters help Zach face his fears and save the sleepover! The Feelings Flashlight is a fun new tool to help illuminate little ones’ feelings and build those all-important emotional intelligence skills!

My daughters love their Moodsters Feelings Flashlight. They trade off taking it to bed every night – and my 4 year old even brought it to show and tell at school with her last week! She was thrilled when the teacher let her turn out the lights in the classroom so she could show the photos of all of The Moodsters and discuss what each one was like. I cannot imagine bedtime now without it. I smile when I walk by their doors and her Razz or Quigly talking to them. When this new The Moodsters book (The Scary Sleepover) and toy set showed up at the front door – the girls literally started jumping up and down. They ran and got their Moodsters Meter and their Meet the Moodsters book. Now we have two books that we read at bedtime and a whole new routine. We still check in with our Moodster Meter quite often to see how they are feeling and solve any problems they might be going through. I just love The Moodsters and I cannot help but spread the word about how great they are. I highly recommend them to help get your children talking about and understanding their feelings.

The Moodsters products are now available at Target and on!

I love the Moodsters. My son has Autism and moods emotions are so hard for him. This would be so cool to help him not be afraid of emotions. I would love this.
  2. I think this is a great item to have for kids that have difficulty expressing emotions. I can't wait to see this film, I missed it at the theater.
  3. Lisa Williams on
I think this is a great tool, especially for the terribly shy kids, who don't want to talk but have thoughts and feelings like everyone else but are more introverted.
  4. I worked with children in a psychiatric facility and this would be such a great tool in those setting as well!! Helping kids to understand their emotions is so critical in development!! I love these toys!! Such a great idea!!
  5. This would be wonderful for my 5 year old who has anxiety and displays inappropriate emotions. I've tried working with him and explaining the differences, but I bet this would help a great deal!
