My daughters and I love playing games. In fact, we play them several times a day. When my husband comes home from work, my 3.5 year old will always tell him about the games we played, who won, and then ask if he wants to play them now. We try to get in at least one family game a night. I just know we are making memories that will last a lifetime for these girls (and us!). One of our favorite new games is Hoppy Floppy’s Happy Hunt from Educational Insights.
We have Shelby’s Snack Shack already and this looked like it might be the same game, different character – but it isn’t! It is “Shelby with a twist” as my husband called it. In the Shelby game, you want to collect the most bones, and you play until they are all gone. But in Hoppy Floppy, the goal is to get one of each color carrot – purple, pink, orange, and yellow. This game is great for helping little ones with color recognition. It also helps with dexterity because you have to squeeze Hoppy Floppy in order to pickup the carrots. Both of my daughters have a ton of fun playing this game! My 3.5 year old can easily squeeze Hoppy – she learned a trick to do it using his ears – and my 2 year old tries so hard to do it by herself, it really is a sight to see. Both girls love when they spin “spill your basket” because they get to (violently, of course) throw all their carrots back in the box. Kids, right?
Overall, I would highly recommend this game. It usually lasts the perfect amount of time – we all know how quickly kids can lose interest. This game takes about 15 minutes on average, which I think is perfect. It helps build skills like color recognition, and best of all, it is fun! My 2 year old loves landing on the little “bandit bunny” with the mask and stealing carrots from other players. This game would make a great Easter gift as well.
