Shell Game Review
Another amazing game from #ThinkFun! When I got approved to receive this game to test and review I was stoked! I received their #RobotTurtle game (see that review here) and absolutely loved it so I had high hopes for this one. And they did not disappoint! Now, instead of my daughter saying “I want to play Robot Turtles!!” over and over – it rotates between that and “I want to play the Shell Game!” This is technically a game for one player and recommended for ages 8 to adult.
This game comes with 3 rocks, 6 different colored hermit crabs, 6 shells, and a 60 page challenge book. The packaging was amazing, yet again. The pieces fit in hard plastic which helps them to be put away easily and not get lost.
The traditional way to play this game is to place the hermit crabs and rocks under the shells just as you see them on the challenge page you are working on. There are lines that you must follow when switching the shells. When you think your shells are in the correct order to match the bottom of your challenge page, lift them up. The challenges range from beginner to expert. My husband loves memory games and so this is right up his ally. He played through about 30 of the challenges the first night we had it and got stuck just a couple times. He really enjoyed playing.
My 3 year old wanted to play with daddy so we modified the game just a little bit for her. We put different colored hermit crabs under the shells. Asked her to watch them, made the switches, and then asked her to find the green one, find the purple one, etc… She did really good! She has a blast playing and this was a great way to get her involved. The Shell Game is the first ever single player memory game and it is meant to challenge kids and adults alike. This is a game we will be pulling out time after time in our house.
You can find out more about this game on the #ThinkFun website (ThinkFun.com) as well as purchase it here for $19.99. You can also purchase this game on Amazon here for the same price. I think this is well worth it! Everyone in your family can play the game! It is really for all ages in my opinion. There are a few different ways to play and it can get pretty intense as the levels get higher. I can only imagine what #ThinkFun will come up with next!
