We have taken the girls to several Disney on Ice shows before – and I grew up going to them every year – but nothing compares to the one that we saw last night – Dare to Dream. I have a sore throat this morning from screaming and cheering so much. I must admit, after seeing Frozen on Ice last year, I did not know how Feld Entertainment could top themselves, Frozen on Ice is an amazing show. But wow – the air performances in the Tangled part of the Dare to Dream show were just incredible. Flynn and Rapunzel are two wildly talented ice skaters, and I really enjoyed watching them. My husband, who is rarely impressed by the ice skating skills of these actors, kept nodding his head and clapping as they performed their tricks. When I saw “Rapunzel’s hair” come down, I thought they would do one or two aerial tricks but they just kept coming – and each one was more impressive than the last.
The local community is encouraged to bring non-perishable item donations to any Syracuse Crunch Home Game throughout the month of December. Donations can also be made at the Solvay Bank Box Office at The Oncenter (760 S. State Street) during normal business hours (M-F 10am-6pm; Sat. 9am-1pm). I know I will be donating! My family always tries to donate food as well as gifts for the less fortunate around the holiday season (and throughout the year). The Oncenter has brilliantly put a fun twist on this food drive, making it worth it for us to drive about a half an hour to donate.
I am so excited that the day is nearly here! We had a complete blast when we went last year (read about that here) and have been counting down the days until we get to go again! My young daughters (3 & 4) love all things Disney just like their mom. We are so excited that our favorite princesses will be a part of this year’s Disney on Ice – Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream Presented by Stonyfield YoKids Organic Yogurt. I will be attending opening night and will be sure to get a post up about it that night or the next morning so you know how it was. I hope to see some of you there – enter to win a family 4 pack of tickets below. Good luck!
I know that the stress of the holidays can get to you – it definitely gets to me! Well have no fear – Glade is turning Black Friday into ‘Bright Friday’ by bringing moments of joy to select locations across the nation that are in need of holiday cheer. By partnering with local influencers to uncover, light up and decorate select public spaces in their city, Glade will transform them into bright, joyous and happy destinations for families to visit throughout the holiday season. Sometimes the holidays can feel hectic and overwhelming, and Glade understands that so they are reminding people that joy is the greatest gift this holiday season by encouraging everyone to share and feel joy in the moment as we approach the busiest time of the year.
My family is what you might call a Disney Family. We love all things Disney – we save our family vacations for Disney World, we watch all of the movies in the theater, and we pretty much always choose a Disney movie for our family movie nights. My daughters would give anything to be real princesses and visit the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. So when I found out that Disney Live! presents Three Classic Fairy Tales Presented by Stonyfield YoKids Organic Yogurt was coming to The Oncenter (one of my favorite local venues) I knew we had to go.
If you have been following my blog for over a year, then you might remember when I attended Disney on Ice last year. It was so much fun and my daughters had a blast! We cannot wait to attend Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream Presented by Stonyfield YoKids Organic Yogurt when it comes to the Oncenter War Memorial Arena in Syracuse (from Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015 to Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016). We recently spent a full week at Disney World and my girls have been talking about it nonstop. I am super excited to be taking them to Disney on Ice! My plan is to keep it a surprise until we go – let’s see if I can hold out!
I cannot wait to take my little girls to Disney Live! presents Three Classic Fairy Tales Presented by Stonyfield YoKids Organic Yogurt. I just know we are all going to have so much fun! We recently spent a week at Walt Disney World and the girls have been talking about it non-stop. They are so excited to attend this show because we are going to be stepping right back in to the magic of Disney. If you are local the Syracuse, NY area – then you should already know the show is coming to The Oncenter (one of my favorite places to see a show in the city) on November 15, 2015. I will be there – and I want to give one of my amazing readers a chance to be there as well! Read a little bit about the show and then enter to win below.
I am getting really excited for Disney Live! next month (November 15 at The Oncenter). I cannot wait for it to come to my town. I have partnered with Feld Entertainment to bring you guys some fun (and free!) printable activity sheets. My girls have been having a blast with these all morning! They even found a pumpkin stencil they can both agree on (finally) so it looks like we will have a Mickey pumpkin this year! We just got back from a week at Disney World so these were a lot of fun for them. Download the activities below for lots of Disney fun with your little ones, and don’t forget to find Disney Live! presents Three Classic Fairy Tales Presented by Stonyfield YoKids Organic Yogurt near you!
Last night my husband and I went on a date night with another couple. We decided to attend Cirque de la Symphonie by Symphoria at The Oncenter and boy were we glad we did. The entire show was breathtaking – just absolutely amazing. There are really no words to describe it. My husband and I are big fans of the symphony and music in general – so just seeing the orchestra was a treat. They played beautifully and chose some really meaningful songs. This coupled with the incredible performances put our night over the top. Many times the entire audience was gasping and applauding because they were so full of emotion.
You may recall that I told you guys about a new active gaming venue in Malden, MA (outside Boston) called Boda Borg several weeks ago (you can revisit that post here). I am so excited to bring you guys a fun giveaway so that you can enjoy a FULL free day of questing – plus a trip to their delicious taco bar – for up to 5 people! Now you will have to be local to the area or willing to travel, but think of all the fun you will have! I am seriously jealous that one of you will get to try this out before I will! Boda Borg officially opens its doors on October 10, 2015 (the day I leave for Disney World – woohoo!).
My name is Brett Smith and I am an Operations Instructor at James A FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant. I grew up in upstate NY, originally in the Finger Lakes region. My parents were farmers turned small business owners. When times became tough my parents sold their business and my father got a job as a security guard at FitzPatrick and moved the family to Oswego. This was 13 years ago. I attended Cayuga Community College and then enlisted in the US Navy out of Oswego. The Navy gave me an unbelievable experience and an education in nuclear power plant operation and maintenance; I gained a passion for nuclear power. In the Navy I met and married my wife and started my family -we have two amazing young girls. For 9 years we lived in the south from Virginia down to Florida, always on the Ocean. In the Navy I saw a lot of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. When I got the opportunity to return to CNY I jumped and brought my family to a place they had never been. I was lucky to get a job back in nuclear power at FitzPatrick, now teaching others how to operate and hopefully instilling the same passion for nuclear power that the Navy gave me.
I have heard so much about Disney Live! presents Three Classic Fairy Tales Presented by Stonyfield YoKids Organic Yogurt – it was recently in the New York City area and I have some friends who went. I have heard nothing but good things and I am dying to take my girls when it comes to Syracuse on November 15th, 2015! It will be at one of my favorite places to see a show – The Oncenter! I just know this is something my girls (and OK, myself as well) are going to love. Especially fresh off the heels of our Disney trip in October. We went to Disney on Ice last year and it was an amazing experience.
I love taking my daughters to The Great New York State Fair every year – it is something we really enjoy as a family. I had heard some people mention that if you have real little ones, there was not much to do there. That could not be further from the truth. There is so much to do with kids. We have a 4 and a 2.5 year old and always have a great day at the fair! When you first walk in (any entrance) to the fair, you will see Lost Kid Tags where you can write your name, child’s name, and your phone number so that if you do get separated from your child, you can easily be reunited. This is just one of the many things that shows how kid friendly the fair is. We spent two days at the fair this year (so far) and I thought I would put together a list of must sees for those of you with young kids.
My family and I attend The Great New York State Fair every year. There is so much to do there – from free concerts, to animal shows, to arts and crafts, to a Native American Village, to rides and games – the fair has it all. You can easily spend a full day there because it is huge! We usually go at least twice in the 12 days (Aug. 27 to Sept. 7, 2015) it is at the fairgrounds. One of the best things about the fair though, is the food. There are so many vendors and carts and places to grab a bite to eat that I wanted to take the time to tell you my top foods – my “must haves” if you will. In a later post, I will tell you more about everything else.
I love going with my family to special events. We enjoy going to concerts, shows, and other cultural and local arts performances. Now that the girls are getting a little bit older, we can do a lot more with them. My husband and I have always looked forward to these types of outings and now they are starting to as well. So when I hears about Symphoria (a fully professional orchestra serving Syracuse and Central New York), I was pretty excited! I didn’t know there was something so amazing so close.
